It's 6 o'clock somewhere....oh yeah here. Fresh 2012 Founders Breakfast Stout
I got ripped on for drinking Shock Top last night, so I'll keep it to myself that I'm drinking it again this evening.
It was me. And it was all in good fun.
Is the pumpkin ale really good? I passed on it tonight because I hadn't seen it before. I got some Sam Adams instead.
Thanks for the info. I might be drinking them tomorrow after all.
Their shandy wasn't great but the rest of the stuff is decent.
I agree it's not the best, but it's drinkable and I got it at a good price. The girlfriend really likes their Raspberry Wheat, but I think the Shandy is better than that, at least.
Umbrella in it?
because I'm mixing.
Anejo is easily the best kind of tequila. I'll do resposado too, but will only drink silver when I don't have a choice. And as a guy who married into a Latin family, I often don't have a choice about these things. Luckily, they know their tequila.
Agree about the tequila. The above photo is a great rum from the Dominican Republic. It is very smooth, and sweet from the molasses. If you have a chance to try it, try it neat or with a splash of fresh lime juice. It's delicious.
Oh OK, I saw the Anejo and assumed it was tequila. I like rum, so I'll have to give it a try. We usually drink Ron Zacapa, mostly because it's from Guatemala (where her family is from).
Great thing about aging in the Carribean is it takes like a third the time to get the same complexities you get from aging in the Irish and Scottish climate. You can get 12-15 years of aging results in Puerto Plata in about 3-4 years. They spice theirs by reusing spent Jack Daniels casks. They've had an agreement since around the American Civil War to do so, but only starting exporting about 10years ago. My brother in law went to school with the Brugalis, otherwise I wouldn't know anything about it, lol.
DJ Anejo is the best sipping tequila I have had. I have never seen anejo rum. Must try.
I have the 'Extra Anejo' rum in my cabinet right now. It's delicious.
Im going back to buy 6 6-packs for the long winter
Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest. Picked up 24!
I was drinking the Hacker-Pschorr Weisse last night, but the six pack was given to me. Tried to buy more tonight since I really liked it, but couldn't find it at the only two stores around that sell nicer brews. Where did you get yours at?
Rye DIPA aged over oak from the keg!
Not sure yet, but it will be in mass quantity after my fiance lost her job today...
...a small shoutout to some relations in Abingdon-on-Thames, where this is brewed...
I thought last week was the home opener?
It was... for Alabama
to take the edge off a busy week.
I'm about to toast my nine year old daughter who, while wearing her brother's hand-me-down Manningham jersey, threw perfect spirals in flag football practice. She also asked for receiver gloves, not to be a better receiver but to protect her nails from breaking. I think that deserves a Shirley Temple (with a shot of whatever we have in the house for me).
That looks fantastic. What's the deal with it?
With a variety of other cheap booze, poor college students can't be picky.
Hey man, when I was in college, Busch Light was what we bought when we went fancy.
Pale Ale homebrew that used a Pilsner style malt. Very good but running out fast. I need ideas for a brew for the fall season...
Gotta brew a season ahead. IPA is always in season, so brew that. X-Mas Ale would be good for the bowl season.
Going to hunt down some Lager of the Lakes after I dry off from rain soaked kids soccer game.
Evan Williams, Crooked tree, Liberty School Cab Sav; just got my tix. woot
Ugh, I know. Just thought I'd keep it light tonight.
Official imported beer of the soon-to-be-defunct NHL.
Tomorrow: La Fin Du Monde by Unibroue, and either Ranger or Red Hoptober by New Belgium.
Tonight: one of the following: Octoberfest by Harpoon or Great Lakes Brewing, or Punkin by dogfish head
Why drink The End of the World at the beginning of football? Are you Mayan?
La Fin Du Monde is really fuckin' good. Great taste, Stamos.
Thank you. Life is too short, so you gotta enjoy the little things and the good things.
with lots of ice, Coke and beer-boiled, grilled brats; the best of 2 worlds.
It was the best beer i could get for ~ a buck a beer
Hoegaarden is my achillies heel of beers. I love everything else from Natty Light to Chimay. To each their own...
That's what I went with since I couldn't find what I was looking for. Hoegaarden is always a good call.
Shorts vanilla porter and Keweenaw olde ore dock scottish ale.
For the MGoTimeSaver:
- Set up to DVR the game
- Start watching the DVR around halftime of the live game
- By the time you've watched the DVR and are caught up to live TV, you should be around a third the way into the 4th quarter
- Enjoy watching the last portion of the game live like everyone else while having saved almost an hour and a half of your life's worth of commercials
But when do you use the bathroom? Or get another BBQ Pork sandwhich? Or engage in mandatory communication with your significant other?
The two biggest problems with this plan:
1. What are you doing while the first half is being played live? Because I have a hard time knowing there is Michigan football going on and not watching it.
2. One of my favorite things to do, as well as many of my friends/family, is text when good and bad things happen. You would also need to turn off your phone while this was going on.
For not as big sporting events, this works fine. For Michigan football, though, I think you just watch it when it happens.
Not to mention, I like to pretend I am at the game and caving in to the 'down in front' crowd by sitting during commercials.
This is the worst idea ever if you are a passionate die hard fan. As stated above, I can't function not knowing what's going on live if there is a game going on.
I'm drinking the ever-smooth Busch Light.
Also, the Kraken.
But only for'lesser' games...and i do actually turn my phone off for a few hours...check txts around 4th quarter
Another problem is that I like to check the stats while the game is going on. You can't do that if you're behind without ruining it. I've made that mistake before.
Just got back from a pretty tough bike ride so I just had a protein shake. Next I'll probably start beer comsumption with a Leinie Summer Shandy as a shower beer. After that it'll probably be some other Leinie selections since my roomate has a little obsession with the 'sconsin based company. Our fridge is full of various flavors of their stuff. Eventually I'll progress into some Blue Light to end the night.
I'm drinking some Shiner Bock while adding the finishing touches to a replica of the old College GameDay set for a Costume 5K tomorrow morning in Minneapolis. Probably the only time GameDay visits Dinkytown.
Wow that looks great, although the best part is that it can be repurposed...as a bar!
Had some Founders Red Rye at happy hour - very tasty. Taking a step back tomorrow with silver bullets 7:30 am sharp at the golf course.
it's RED'S Rye. Please don't fuck up the name of Founder's Brews.
Bonus info: if you're drinking bottles, the wierd looking guy on the label is a homeless guy who used to hang out around Founders' original location...nickname was 'Red'. One of the bartenders told me that a few years back.
Red's Rye, the original and BEST Rye Pale. Almost every brewery does a rye pale style now, and a lot of great ones out there, but only ONE Red's Rye Pale. Founders ROCKS.
im heading to a strip club, so regrets and broken dreams.......and shots of jager
My sister and some GFs are headed out to party and they're good tippers.
Geeze. I hope you have an aisle seat.
Some Magic Hat not so pale ale.... Wedding tomorrow during the game, thank god for DVR
Fisherman's Brew. Gloucester, MA.
has anyone tried the brewery on jackson road, its got something to do with a frog i believe
Some 1800 Reposado Tequiller and chasing that with some BL Plats (Bud Light Platinum).. I'm daddy long stroking tonight.
Belvedere Vokda and lime juice on the side to freshen the palate from time to time.
A Little Sumpin (Lagunitas)
The damn races at Berlin got cancelled, now I get to make strawberry jam with the wife.
races at Berlin? My fiancee' lives in Comstock Park and we get there as often as possible. Great action for about $12, and dollar beers. Good times.
Some Labatts for pre gaming purposes. Then off to a house party with some fiends.
+ Continued week long marathon of The Wire. On finale of season 1. Series is even better watching it the second time around.
My favorite non-homebrewed beer.
second to none. Holy shit are we lucky in Meeechigan with 120 or so breweries!
a seasonal pepper style beer. It's good but they over-did it on the peppers this year. Had to cut it with some of my own home brew.
It's good for you...
Trying something new called Fat Tire. Not to Bad!
Guinness after work, things are looking up.
It's an all-american beer.
North Peak Vicious. Was recently turned on to this stuff and it is quickly becoming a favorite.
Dirty Malt liquor. Most likely Mickeys.
Back, I love it.
Ill say it again. I am back home, yes, and i love everything about our great state. In the meantime sipping some Sam Adams after a wonderful rehearsal dinner of a great friend from UM in Arcadia. Chillin in northern Michigan is pretty much heaven.
Amen and Go Blue!!
Of what will be many........at home.........riding shotgun........then beer at the pregames.
WTF? Still no alcohol in the Big House? When do we enter the 21st Century?
White Russians last night, Bloody Mary(s) today! Go Blue!
