What’s that you say?

I like Rich Rodriguez.  He seems like a stand up guy.  I really hope Michigan beats OSU for his sake.  I’d like to see the guy have a chance to enjoy himself for a change.  For all the s*** he’s been through, he deserves it.

Arrogant Michigan Alumni who try to influence others with their money irritate me.  They irresponsibly give anyone else, by association, a bad name.  Those of us who grew up in Michigan were here first.  I’d like to see a stat on what these people donate and what they get in return from the University.  Then, compare that figure to what the taxpayers of Michigan contribute (without the benefits).  And for the record, if they were not in those seats on Saturday, the stadium would still be full.  Filled to capacity with fans who want to watch football, not talk about the stock market.

Do people honestly give a s*** what Chris Spielman thinks.  Ask dude how many National Championships or Super Bowl teams he played on.  Is he an authority on what it takes to be a champion?

If Braylon Edwards, Les Miles, and Gary Moeller are Michigan Men, I can understand why we went another way.

A National Championship is all that really counts.  Winning the Big Ten means you are better than 10 other teams (half that are usually terrible).  You win the Big Ten, you talk big s*** in the Midwest.  You win the National Championship, you put on your jersey, take a trip cross country and never have to say a word.  Have you seen the Fox commercial with Bradshaw, Long.  You know, guys with “rings that matter”.

“This offense will never work in the Big Ten”.  Bring Auburn or Oregon, who have similar types of offense (stolen from RR), into the Big Ten this year.  Both have average (25-50 ranked) defenses.  They kick everybody’s ass.  Data:  Oregon 52 - Jim Harbaugh 31 and Auburn 24 – Les Miles 17.

Coach Rodriguez and his staff have done an amazing job in recruiting kids out of Florida.  “but what about the state of Michigan?”  To that, I say - Mack Brown.   Look at Mack Brown in Texas.  How’s that going for him?  You should win 8 games a year by default with the talent he gets in that state.  You know who is number one in recruiting this year, according to pundits?  You need another example you say? How about Urban Meyer in Florida.  “Hey Urban, you got all those 5 stars the past 2 years, how could you possibly be losing?”

So, the authorities say “Harbaugh is rumored to go the way of Michigan or San Francisco”.  I say let him go to San Francisco.  Then, bring in Singletary as our new DC.

When, in the last 30 years, have you felt absolutely confident we have had the team to win the National Championship?  I mean, we play any team, anywhere and win.  Not just the Big Ten Championship (see above).  For example, OSU has been "so" dominant in the Big Ten the last 10 years, but what do they have to show for it?  Outside the Midwest, they are a joke.  What does that make the rest of us?

Bo won 29 percent of his bowl games.  Lloyd won 46 percent of his bowl games.  Combined they had 1 National Championship.  In ’97, if we would have played Nebraska, let’s be honest, we would have gotten our a**** kicked.

I hope Dave Brandon has the b**** to make a decision on his own, without alumni influence or previous player influence.  If the rumors are true, and you are getting calls, ask Tom Brady what he's done in New England the past 6 years?

Finally, Michigan has always stood for class.  The haters are going to hate.  Sometimes you need to be humbled.  Those with integrity will acknowledge the constructive criticism, make necessary changes and work harder.  The arrogant and proud will blame someone else.

P.S. – Dave, when you got ‘em on the phone, ask him politely to cut his f****** hair.

I'm a current student at the university, and I completely agree.  I'm tired of people talking like Les Miles and Jim Harbaugh are such great people.  I think they're assholes.  Call him a bad coach, or a guy who doesn't "get" big ten football, but Rich Rodriguez has acted classy on a level with Bo and Lloyd.

The stunts he pulls with his players make me think that he's an asshole.  I'm talking specifically about the kid who had been on campus for a month and a half, living in the dorms, and then was told "Oh, by the way, you need to grayshirt, because I'm an asshole and oversigned and now I have too many players." That's the sure sign of an asshole to me, buddy.

And don't pull that name-drop bullshit, everyone who's on here knows someone connected to Michigan football, we just don't have to do it to make our points more valid.

I'm sure you have all the inside information on the goings on of the LSU football program.  I can't speak for what happened in that instance, but I can tell you he is not an asshole.  And fuck you for accusing me of name dropping.  When you do know someone, and know he is a good guy, you are obliged to speak on there behalf.  Can't wait to see your next rant of a response.

Happy Thanksgiving uniqenm! (its so unique!)

Virtually everyone has a few family friends; it doesn't mean there aren't any assholes.  Les Miles may or may not be one, but what someone does in their professional life is important to overall perception, and yanking a scholarship after a student moved into his dorm room qualifies as an accolade on the asshole résumé.

EDIT:  my slow typing makes puppies sad.

Nebraska was run only, and the best thing about that 97 defense (besides Woodson) was how great we were against the run, and any team that was one dimensional like Neb. It would not even have been close. An easy two touchdown win

The author of this thread makes such dumbass statements that I assume he is a troll trying to stir things ups.

"A National Championship is all that really counts."   Yea, right.  So every team except the national champion considers it a failed season?  Your stupidity shines brightly.

I thought that the OP seems extremely bitter.  If NC's are the only things that matter, then the SEC is the only league that matters (with occassional exceptions from the Big 12 and PAC 10).  I just don't buy it.

I think that the Big Ten Championship is of primary importance.  Let the chips fall where they may after that is out of the way.

Just got a call from the Mrs who is home in Miami for turkey day and she called as soon as she read this on the Canes board..........All you guys wanting him as coach you can cross him off the list. Kirk Herbstreit on Joe Rose today said " Rich Rod will likely fired on Monday and within 24 hours Jim will be named as Michigan head coach. " So its started again!!

Singletary would make for an awesome college DC.  He is intense but truly cares and is likely done as a head coach and he might be the first to admit it.  He should be high on Brandon's list if he steps down or is fired.

I am incredibly grateful that we have an AD like dave brandon.  It takes an executive like that to run the program and make decisions that take in to account all of the factors of the program going forward.

I'm sure DB sees the success that RR can bring but it's unfortunate that many alumni are so uninformed about the program and inexperienced defensive players.

Sorry for the 2nd post but since i've lost so many points someone needs to post the previous on the main board and see what kind of reaction we get....i think burning  Herbstreit in effigy is a start!! He is part of the reason we are in the current situation we are in...his HUGE Big Blue hating mouth spouting his rants and chaffing everyone.....

You must have fallen and bumped your head.

This whole post is all over the place, and I agree with some sentiments... but what's with the animosity for non-Michiganders.  Breathe my friend, breathe.

I agree.. someone once made the point, if the only fans michigan had were alumni, where would the program be?  Michigan, for many people, represents a way of life.  I get that.  I LOVE when I meet people who are M fans but never attended.. it speaks volumes to how strong a program/brand Michigan is.  You meet people throughout the US, who love Michigan, whether it's because a parent was from Michigan, or because they loved the fab 5, or have images of Charles Woodson with a rose in his mouth.

I just don't get where he's going with part of this post.

Stuck in the bowels of Cajun Country (Lafayette, LA) supporting U of M... Never attended U of M for school, but had my oldest brother groom me into a HUGE Michigan Fan and made it up there for the M State Game.

Rich Rod will get us there. I'm sick of hearing the Jim Harbaurgh/Les Mile crap down here. And I'm sick of hearing it on this board. This is my Michigan Refuge, I do not need all of these haters ruining it for me nor anyone else that cares for this team and University. I get the Les Miles crap from everyone over here. They are begging and praying for Michigan to sign Les Miles. Nahh, LSU can keep him.

You are an idiot and don't deserve to be a Michigan fan.

Arrogant Michigan Alumni who try to influence others with their money irritate me.  They irresponsibly give anyone else, by association, a bad name.

Wrong...its the arrogant ignorant here who neg to oblivion the unpopular but true posts, and its them who are the irresponsible ones.

Do people honestly give a s*** what Chris Spielman thinks.  Ask dude how many National Championships or Super Bowl teams he played on.  Is he an authority on what it takes to be a champion?

Again, you're a fucking idiot. Spielman first off, is a champion in every way, and was more of a "Michigan Man" than you'll ever be. He was slated to go here, and absolutely loved the Maize and Blue, but his father and the entire community and state of Ohio locked him down. They used every bit of leverage possible to keep in not coming, and I believe it was a crime unless he was 18 already.  They essentially would have destroyed his family left behind had he left.

So, the authorities say “Harbaugh is rumored to go the way of Michigan or San Francisco”.  I say let him go to San Francisco.  Then, bring in Singletary as our new DC.

To not want Harbaugh, truly makes you unworthy...it really does.

I agree, and i am one of 'em. Class of '92 checking in.

Our D has been embarrassing, but the behavior of the so called Michigan Men has been even more embarressing still.  RR was treated like dirt from day 1.  If there is Karma in the world, we are in for some serious trouble foe a long long time.

agree with this at all:

'03 for example, we we #4 having lost 28-14 to National Champs USC. I felt very much like we could win it all.

Same with '06.

I don't think Florida, Alabama, Auburn, thought we were a joke when we beat them in the bowls the last 10 years.

"In ’97, if we would have played Nebraska, let’s be honest, we would have gotten our a**** kicked."

In 1997 we played a common opponent: Colorado. Michigan won 27-3 and kicked their ass up and down the field at will.

Nebraska was in a dogfight with Colorado, got behind by multiple scores and came back in the 4th qtr to nip them 27-24.

If you think Nebraska would've kicked our asses then you're not much of a Michigan fan in my book.

don't get me wrong, I loved that 97 team.  Started out ranked like 14th and "proved" it with some very tough wins.  The teams they both played doesn't really matter (rivalries).  Mich. St. would play us tougher than they might play Neb because of the rivalry.  But, at the end of the year, say the last 2 games, especially in the Orange Bowl against #3 Tenn., Neb just destroyed them.  Not even close, while Michigan slipped by Wash. St. and Ryan Leaf.  Just sayin...
