Sam Webb mentioned this morning on WTKA that it didn't look good. Don't think there is anything official though.

I think he said he wasn't as confident because he hasn't heard from him. I didn't hear at any point this morning it looked bad.....

People think they know everything. Jernigan was a Gator fan growing up and was suppose to go to Florida but ended up at FSU. Marcus Roberson switched his committment like 3 times in 4 days. Recruits change their mind all the damn time. And how do people figure we lost out on him? He hasn't even committed/signed yet.

actually swayed him?

A freind of mine just emailed me to say Willingham is gone. He's usually very good when it comes to this sort of info. I hope he's wrong...

The Free Press is the devil incarnate. Do not go to their website or God will strike you down. There are plenty of better places you can go to get good information. Please don't sell your soul like that again. Thanks.

the GRPRESS is arguably worse. It has become rabidly Sparty in the last few years. It's basically a Sparty apologist, with a deeper and more more sinister bias than the Freep. So glad I got the fuck out of Grand Rapids. The only factor cutting in favor of the Freep being worse is that the Freep has a higher circulation.

He's announcing tomorrow but possibly signing before then. A lot of speculation that he'll go to Colorado based on some ambiguous facebook conversation that wasn't apparently relevant to anything.
Nothing concrete to suggest he's gone.

are you kidding? omg this blows... willingham is the one player i wanted... a big LB for mattison.

This means that either:
A. He is going to CO and hence is avoiding the local guys out of vague feelings of empathy/guilt/akwardness
or
B. Building drama for his Michigan commitment
who knows.

that Notre Dame Fans are still complaining about his lack or recruiting killing the program.

The signs seem to be pointing to Boulder. It's a pretty rational decision IMO. He'll get early playing time, CU is right by his high school( note to fun police Boulder is within a 30 minute drive of Denver for recruiting that's right by), and he's probably getting sold on being a key piece in rebuilding a proud program. If he's heading to CU then best of luck to him.

Their new staff is young, energetic, and full of good recruiters with NFL ties (like Bienemy, for example). I would not be surprised at all to see those guys put together some good classes over the next few years, especially if they can improve to 7-8 wins next year and get some positive momentum on the field.

"and he's probably getting sold on being a key piece in rebuilding a proud program"
Doesn't that mean he should be coming here?
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:09 PM ^
Yeah, but not when both programs can sell it and one is closer to home. There's also probably some peer/parental pressure as well.

Trieu at Scout was saying Willingham to Colorado, fwiw. It's a tough loss and a surprising one if it is true. Maybe Tom knows something more.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:11 PM ^
And how many times has Trieu been completely wrong the last few days? "Trieu on Scout said...." is getting to be meaningless.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
reminds me of Bill Belichik's quote on Charlie Casserly.
“Who’s been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins? His percentage is like a meteorologist,” Belichick said.

If LW commits to CU, that means his parents, relatives, and friends can very easily see all his home games, and LW can easily come home on the weekends, holidays, etc. If he signs with UM, the distance and travel logistics make that sort of contact far more difficult. For some recruits, distance doesn't matter (Jake Fisher), but that doesn't mean it's universal.

The rumors out of Colorado are pretty strong, and suggest that he's staying in Colorado. Keep your expectations low on this one. Perhaps we'll finally have something positive and surprising happen.
February 2nd, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
Trying to follow what snippets there are and it's mostly secondhand so take it with a grain of salt but sounds like he wants to come here but his family might want him closer to home. Who knows who wins that battle...
February 2nd, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
he wants to go to UCF. I will believe it when I see it.
February 2nd, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
Scout says he has signed his LOI to go to UCF....I'm so confused.
February 2nd, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
Yeah, I just noticed this too. Rivals still has him uncommitted as of right now, so who knows what to believe.
