Any word on Michigan interest in Tajh Boyd? Was he committed during or after Rich Rod's days at WVU? Sounds like he was unhappy with Kiffin's pro-style offense at Tennessee...
And how about the slew of Auburn decommits? Anyone there potentially Blue?

No reason to call Boyd. We've got our QBs, and they're solid.
And meh on Auburn. Alabama will pick their carcass of any quality non-spread recruits (of which there are basically none), Florida will probably take Lutzenkirchen, and any others, I'm not sure Michigan has any interest in. Auburn was doing a really poor job of recruiting this year in general, let alone for the spread offense. Saban has raped that program of its dignity in only two years.

ESPN reporting Boyd is considering OSU, Oregon, and PSU. The guy seems like a stud but has similar size to Forcier, smaller than Beaver and reported weakness is runnning ability. Don't understand why the Tennessee pro-style offense is bad but the OSU/PSU pro-style offenses would be good. Sounds like the same sales pitch that wooed Pryor...

Lane Kiffin told Boyd his verbal commitment wouldn't be acknowledged now that he's there. He basically told him to get lost, it wasn't Boyd that initiated it.

Just a theory, but OSU may be pursuing Boyd because this season showed that Pryor isn't going to be as good as they thought he was (not the emphasis on "as good"; not saying he's not good). Although I still don't think he'll ever be an accomplished passer.

I doubt OSU is too concerned with how good Pryor will be. They SHOULD be concerned with back-ups - only three QB's on roster this season with Boeckman graduating. That leaves Pryor and Bauserman with no QB recruit in the '09 class. They'd love to get Boyd, redshirt him, and get 2-3 years after Pryor leaves early for the NFL. Still not sure why a pro-style team is recruiting only spread QB's (Newsome, Boyd)...

I don't disagree with that, either. Although several of my Ohio State friends are very concerned about Pryor's actual abilities after having been initially very high on him as a recruit. I don't see any way that he leaves early for the NFL. I would be VERY surprised.

Pryor is a true freshman with an 8-1 record as a starter. He can likely attribute some success to a very experienced O-line and stud RB, but there doesn't seem to be much concern about his upside. A Fiesta Bowl tilt against Texas will tell a lot as will playing next season behind a much less experienced offense. His reason for choosing OSU was to help his draft status and was quoted this year to say that college football was "easy", and like "high school". He'll go for the fast cash grab at the earliest opportunity.

I know that's what his reason was, I'm just telling you what I see based on (1) what I've seen and (2) what I'm familiar with from his level of competition prior to going to OSU. The level that he played at in Pennsylvania was an absolute joke; the weakest level in the state. The fact that several of my diehard OSU fans are concerned about gives it at least some credence regardless of whether or not its being talked about on the blogs or in the media. It's a legit concern among a lot of them. He'll definitely go for the cash grab if it is available, but I don't think it will be available early (if at all). The fact that he says that college football is "easy" like high school is belied by his (not the team's) stats and actual performance. As I've said before on this issue, I'll admit it if I turn out to be wrong.

Before the UM/tUoOS game game, wasn't OSU's offense ranked last in the Big Ten? I swear I'd heard that at some point before the game.

Newsome was listed a pro style QB for a while and mentioned interest in playing in a more pro style offense which is why he opened up his recruiting. I think once Pryor is a better passer they'll switch to a more pro set offense.
