Weasel Bowl

Submitted by TorontoBlue on

This from ESPN Page 2 sounded pretty funny to me until I saw RR is included:

Weasel Bowl Approaches: This Saturday it's Little Nicky Saban versus Bobby Petrino as Alabama meets Arkansas -- the first Weasel Bowl! Note the schools of the Weasel Three -- Saban, Petrino and Rich Rodriguez -- are a combined 13-8 since these extremely expensive promise-breakers arrived. They'd probably be a combined 13-9 if Arkansas' game at Texas had not been postponed by Hurricane Ike, and surely Arkansas boosters are now praying that meeting is never rescheduled. The 13 victories include wins over cupcakes Western Illinois, Western Kentucky, Western Carolina and Miami (Ohio). Between huge salaries, legal fees and buyouts, Alabama, Arkansas and Michigan have already spent about $20 million to get a mediocre 13-8 result. Considering the fantastic advantages in money and recruiting power possessed by Alabama, Arkansas and Michigan, orangutans could have coached them to 13-8.

Despite all available evidence, he's still stuck believing that RR was in contact with UM officials before that Pittsburgh game. Considering that flawed premise is the crux of his reasoning for his conclusion, I think it's safe to ignore him.

I liked how they used the Rodriguez footnote in the Weasel Bowl paragraph (he isn't even involved in the game) to put his picture on the Page 2 main article banner.  Someone knows anything Michigan draws hits....

I saw this and figured there would be some chatter about this over on MGoBlog.

My process went as such: I clicked the article only bc of RR on the cover, didnt read it bc of its length (could it have been any longer?  yeesh), went straight to the Weasal bowl section, rolled my eyes and closed the window, cried a little bit inside bc i had wasted one minute of my life, and then wasted 2 more minutes coming over here and writing this.

I need a new hobby.

Rodriguez went 3-9 in his first year at WVU, and both Petrino and Saban entered their jobs with a lot of rebuilding to do.  This guy seems to expect overnight results.

It's just as simple as this: Gregg Easterbrook is a grade A, certified, dipshit. He has demonstrated this repeatedly over the past 5-6 years writing about non-Michigan related topics such as "Why Jews are to blame for Hollywood violence". (His answer? Because all they care about is money.)
