thanks for rubbing it in. Maybe you can make a post about the Dee hart runs?
January 8th, 2011 at 3:20 PM ^
honestly, we should just all expect to see no commitments and likely several decommitments until we have a new coach. at that point, the new guy may close and get some kids but the class is going to be poor. that is all there is to it.

He took one coachless team over another. Fuck.
January 8th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
kind of confusing to me aswell. Only thing i can guess, is that it is a school that just went 12-1 and won BCS bowl game.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
Why can't we ever have nice things anymore... :(
January 8th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
I personally don't see how anyone can commit to a school without knowing who the head coach, coordinator, and position coach will be. Having said that, it's still disappointing to lose the players who allegedly had us as their number one choice.
The only saving grace is the youth of our team, especially the defense. Assuming there isn't a huge attrition, we can still have a decent year next year. IF that happens, and our coaching situation appears stable, then we can start attracting the type of recruiting classes that are necessary for success.

nevermind...capt/coke
January 8th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
Me neither. There's absolutely no reason to, aside from some schoolboy need to say something on TV. The kid was smart enough to narrow it down to Stanford and Michigan. So this is really odd. Maybe guys like Lyons and Frost just figure, hey, I can always change my mind if I like M's new coach.
That said, at least the kid picked a fantastic school. At least he didn't pick Auburn.

It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:14 PM ^
Wait they don't have a coach...beat me Commodore. Of course if they can get commits w/o a coach...Are really going to hire 57 yr old Les?
January 8th, 2011 at 5:00 PM ^
How old is JoePa again? Les is not that old.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:15 PM ^
Maybe he has stage fright and doesn't like playing in front of big crowds?
January 8th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
man wtf ....... DB you better have something up your sleeve.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:26 PM ^
DB has nothing up his sleeve or anywhere else. Hard to imagine how this could have been handled worse. The best part is the big payoff for all the uncertainty and loss of recruits while Dave runs his process is going to be Brady Hoke, a guy he could have got 2min after he fired RRod. I feel nauseous watching this all unfold.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
Hoke could be the world's greatest rough-cut diamond and it still wouldn't make any sense to have torpedoed recruiting for the entire 2011 season. If he's DB's guy, get him a week ago and try to salvage SOMETHING. What the hell are we getting out of waiting?
January 8th, 2011 at 4:57 PM ^
I agree. Bringing in Hoke probably means the class ends with a whimper (I doubt he'll be able to bust down doors and nab some big-name, last-minute kids like RR did), and then you have another year of Mr. "the spread don't work good" shoe-horning UM's 2004 offense with 2010 spread talent and everyone realizing that this might have been handled a little better. As a lifelong UM fan and alum, I am far more disappointed in how "pimp hand" DB is handling this situation as compared to RR's hire. There I felt Martin was taking a chance and trying something new; here I see Brandon being a mediocre AD and playing the "safe" route even though he'll probably have to can Hoke in 2-3 years after he struggles to a 7-6, 8-5 record.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Stanford doesn't have a coach either! My dong is getting beaten to a pulp.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
They don't have a coach?
January 8th, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
...proof you don't need a coach to recruit. What is Michigan's problem???
January 8th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
dee hart...make everything better!
January 8th, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
He just committed to Bama.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
After the Ohio State game, these were probably our top 3 priorities and probably among the 3 players most likely to commit to Michigan. All probably playing Defense down the road. And now we get none.
If anyone wants to lecture about how we need to recruit better on defense, clearly this past month could have been dealt with much better.
January 8th, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
It's a good thing that the decimation of this class will at least by offset by the brilliant, big-name hire pimp hand is going to bring in. Right?
January 8th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
January 8th, 2011 at 3:30 PM ^
Dave Brandon is the recruiting Cooler
January 8th, 2011 at 3:53 PM ^
Where are now the guys telling us that DB's actions will not affect recruiting?
January 8th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
I'm sure they would say that the new coach will have plenty of time to finish off the recruiting class once he gets hired. Everyone knows NSD isn't until...wait, wut? That timeline looks pretty good now huh? but don't worry, DB knows what he is doing so don't panic.
January 8th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
Good thing we don't need 4 star safeties!
