Vote Michigan for Gator Bowl
If you want to see Michigan-Florida in the Gator Bowl, let them know on their official Facebook poll:

While this poll is not a definitive solution for the matchup, it might influence their decision... maybe?

Don't follow that link. Just go to their facebook page and "like" them. After you do that you can click on the "poll" tab and vote without giving away your credit card and social. Florida is in first with 50% of the votes and Michigan is in second with 25% of the votes. The only other team close to Michigan is TN with 12% Iowa only has 1% LOL

Who knows whether it will impact the decision, but it can't hurt. I really don't want to be in the Insight Bowl - 10:00 at night on a work night? Blech . . .
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:02 PM ^
I voted for them to be in the Outback.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:03 PM ^
Oh how complete my New Year's Day would be with big blue playing!
Happy they're going to any bowl, but New Year's Day is special.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:05 PM ^
Please don't say "big blue," thanks.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
any reason why, other than your own preference. Genuine question.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:10 PM ^
Refers to the NY Giants (football, not old baseball).
We are just Blue.
Not sure why that is, but it just is.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:21 PM ^
Big Blue was also a term used for IBM back when they still sold computers.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:10 PM ^
Big Blue is the Giants. Not Michigan.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:11 PM ^
My bad. Thanks for the help. And again I am being genuine.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
Also Kentucky and Old Dominion.
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:15 PM ^
Not too much info, just obvious info... every man on the board's balls are named that when ___________ (insert name of wife, girlfriend, random livestock if from Ohio) isn't feeling it.
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:35 PM ^
Too Many Informations?
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:04 PM ^
I believe there are plenty of references to M as "Big Blue" in the old days. If I'm wrong I'd be pleased to be corrected.
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:11 PM ^
Someone on the board mentioned a few days ago that Bob Ufer used to call us "Big Blue" at times, I don't remember who said it though.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:34 PM ^
If memory serves, Ufer used to sometimes refer to Michigan at "The Big Blue Machine".
December 2nd, 2010 at 11:10 PM ^
I always imagine people who say Big Blue are the same people who used to say colors were "blue and gold". I picture them as people from the East Coast who got into MICH through relatives who went there.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:04 PM ^
they were going to make that decision anyway. Aka: the poll will not influence their decision.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:04 PM ^
when will we know
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:54 PM ^
Sunday night is the bowl selection show if I am not mistaken. Would love, love, love for UM to play in the Gator Bowl. My buddy who lives in Florida (just outside of Gainesville) texted me last night saying he expects a Michigan Florida Gator Bowl. Not sure how credible he is or his info but I'll take it.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
I'm not a big fan of playing the Gators this year.
They will be getting back several of their stars from injury (Jeff Demps) and their defense is built to stop spread attacks. I think we would match up better against a Big 12 defense.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:11 PM ^
It would be a tougher game, but wouldn't it be more exciting to go up against another traditional football power than to play some MAC-level team in the Texas Bowl?
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:13 PM ^
I believe he's referring to playing Nebraska/Oklahoma/OSU in the Insight Bowl.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:41 PM ^
Obviously I want us to win the bowl game, and I think we could beat the Gators, but I really do not like the match-up.
Their defense is a lot better than the scores would indicate. They are athletic and can close to the ball very quickly. The problem is they are dealing with the same situation we went through in 2008 with a subpar offense.
Brantley is not very good, and they rotate three QB's into the game. Their running game has been inconsistent without Demps, who has been injured most of the year. He will be back, and so will some of the other playmakers they have been missing late in the season.
Saying all that, we will not stop them. It will be high-scoring, and I fear our unblemished mark against them would be soiled.
I would prefer a team in the Big 12, or ACC (although that idea seems unlikely). On another note, how sad has our state of affairs become that I fear a mediocre Gators squad?
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:14 PM ^
I don't know. I think going up against an unranked 5 loss Florida team is far more preferable than going up against a 2 loss big 12 team; no matter what their defense looks like. Offense is not going to be our problem. In fact I would rather face a harder defensive team than a better offensive team. Florida is currently ranked like 78th in total offense. That's what I want going up against our defense which will have 15 practices to prepare for that offense. IMO Florida's team is far easier for us to stop vs. the Big 12 teams; and unless we're going to repeat the OSU performance we're likely going to score points on any opponent we play. SO I'm rooting for the team we're most likely to stop defensively and that's Florida.
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:45 PM ^
But when you think about it, Florida was the last team we faced in a bowl (yeah, we won in epic fashion and it felt great).
I hate the Gators as much as Ohio State and MSU, but frankly, I'd rather play someone else. Just my opinion. I'll shut up now.
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:07 PM ^
But would you rather face a very un-glamorous Missouri team or a Nebraska team we're going to have to play every year for the next 100+ years?
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
It is probably our most favorable match-up, aside from some ACC or Big East team (not happening). That being said, I do not have a good feeling about it. It's just my opinion. I think we stand a better chance against the Big 12.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:12 PM ^
I disagree. I think our offense can move the ball on anyone if we don't get in our own way. However, Florida is having troubles on offense this year, which could help our defense out.
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
Not necessarily, I mean if Auburn played florida their offense would run all over Meyer's D
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
am just seeing the world through maize and blue glasses, but wouldn't you think that the bowls would be fighting over Michigan? Obviously these points get brought up a lot so I understand they are not novel, but Denard and Mich's D promise to deliver a lot of points and the team hasn't been bowling in two years!
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:49 PM ^
The bowls would probably rather have a competitive game, and Michigan against Nebraska/OK/OK St/Mizzou isn't competititve.
December 2nd, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
While I don't think I'd pick Michigan to beat any of those teams, it's a bit of an exaggeration to say that we wouldn't be competitive against Missouri or Oklahoma State. Good teams? Sure. Dominant? No.
And with the chance to get healthy, I think our bowl performance (at least on offense) will look more like the early-season Michigan than the late-season one.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:10 PM ^
According to Brian's post yesterday, OSU and WI go to the BCS and MSU to the Citrus. Then the Outback, Gator and Insight (in that order) pick from Iowa, PSU, Michigan, NW and, possibly, Illinois. If the Insight's choices are M, NW or Illinois, I'm pretty sure they go with Michigan.
Besides, what the bowls really want are fan bases that will travel to the game. Again, that's Michigan.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:41 PM ^
that they are going to the Gator Bowl anyway. Florida v. Michigan is just more compelling than Florida v. Penn State. Florida v. Michigan - Rich Rod's "last stand," rematch of 07, etc. is a lot jucier than "Ehh, Florda v. Penn State." Michigan v. Florida draws viewers away from Outback/Capital One Bowl.
December 2nd, 2010 at 12:52 PM ^
I'm being selfish here. I want the INSIGHT.
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:11 PM ^
Do you live in Arizona or something? There is really no reason to want that bowl unless you live there. We would be playing a much harder team, in a lesser bowl, with far less viewership. I want the Gator bowl 100%. You can't tell me that seeing Michigan on New Year's day wouldn't be a little more special than Dec 28th at 10:00PM.
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:17 PM ^
I am from Az and I do not even want them here. I want a Michigan win! I want them to smash the gators...again!
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
Yeah the Gator bowl is better all around for the team and the program. IMO we match up far better with Florida than anyone we would face in the Insight.com bowl. I'm seriously crossing my fingers for the Gator bowl. And Iowa losing to Minnesota really helps our chances.
December 2nd, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
Watching the Gator Bowl on TV or watching the Insight Bowl from the lower level, Michigan sideline. I just really want to watch them in person. I don't care if we play a tougher team. We can play against anybody if we execute. So bring on Mizzou or Neb or whoever else from the Big 12.
I know what you mean about the New Years day game. But a bowl in AZ could do a little for recruiting out here too.
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:00 PM ^
I'll be watching from the press box if Michigan's in the Insight Bowl, which has me a little biased as far as bowl preferences.
December 2nd, 2010 at 7:30 PM ^
i feel like a game in florida would do more for recruiting than arizona. we've got a lot of recruits in the florida area, arizona not so much.
December 2nd, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
Selfish reasons force me to agree

“Our team selection is based on three criteria. Heads in beds, fannies in seats and big TV ratings,” Catlett said. …
“Still trying to get that balance,” Catlett said. “We’re not about college football. We’re about economic impact.”
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:11 PM ^
I know we have a huge fan base but does our fan base travel better than Iowa's smaller fan base? Whoever they think is going to come ot the game is going to be the team invited.
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
I'm leaning Insight at this point. I have a hot ASU coed I know that I can "visit" if we go to the Insight bowl.
December 2nd, 2010 at 2:15 PM ^
Saying "hot ASU coed" is redundant. Just "ASU coed" tells the story.
