Visitors this weekend
This is a pretty big visit weekend for the football program, as evidenced by this afternoon's commitment from Micah Ka'apana. Belleville (MI) Belleville linebacker Jeremiah Beasley and Springfield (OH) Springfield cornerback Aaron Scott, Jr. are just a couple of the big fish on campus, and the prospect camp this week also saw some interesting 2025, 2026, and 2027 targets emerge. A couple new offers were thrown out to the likes of Danville (KY) Boyle County 2025 wideout Montavin Quisenberry and Mundelein (IN) Carmel Catholic 2027 quarterback Trae Taylor.
Here's the full list if you're interested: LINK.
My bad. Trae Taylor is from Illinois, not Indiana.
Taylor plays “not too far away” - I’ll check him out on non road trip Michigan weekends.
Go Blue!
FWIW - Trae’s school has played against another Michigan players high school alma mater. That Michigan player… JJ McCarthy.
Magnus, thanks for the 411 as usual!
Thanks
Yes please. Mangus, would you kindly arrange for both Beasley and Scott to commit this weekend.
Thanks, Love you,
Grampy
Done.
Anything else?
Happy Fathers Day!!!
Pickett would be a great pick-up now that carter is a Vol.
Anybody who wants their ceiling to be 10 wins and share a legacy with a guy who lost out the Heisman to a defensive player can do so. Also, Joe Milton isn't good. I hate orange.
I dislike Tennessee as much as the next guy but saying they have a 10 win ceiling while they are currently sitting on an 11 win season makes this otherwise fine ribbing sound pretty silly.
I mean given their conference, they definitely have a ceiling. As long as UGA and Bama continue on their trend, schools like Tennessee and Florida will always have a ceiling of a NY6 Bowl
Didn't they beat Bama?
You know very well I'm referring to the regular season, but you're very very brave for your contribution. Stunning and brave.
Excellent as usual. Thanks Magnus !
Boo Carter 4 star from Tennessee committed to the Vols over us. He was one of the highest rated DB we wanted pretty sure for a safety spot. That sucks I thought for sure he was going to commit to Michigan. Oden did his best to help recruit him. Seems like more CB would want to come to Michigan as we seem to coach them up to be drafted in the NFL even when they are only 3 stars. Hopefully Davis can talk Scott into committing to us as we need some more studs in the DB field
Boo was more for the NB spot I believe. We will also keep recruiting him until signing day so it is possible.
A good reminder that a recruit having a great time on a visit shouldn’t be overvalued too much. Insiders never wavered that Carter was a Tennessee lean but a few pictures from his Michigan visit got people thinking Carter was coming.
There was more to it than that. He and Oden are extremely close and Clinksdale is a great recruiter. There was a lot of reason for optimism and insiders have said Michigan will pursue him until signing day,
Every time I see laser wolf I think of the butcher in Fiddler on the Roof.
Aaron Chiles to Florida?!??
I hope not he looks like he can be a special Linebacker here. He seemed like a 8 out of 10 as far as committing to Michigan. I hope we finish strong in recruiting cause most of the recruits we are expected to get or are in on seem to be top 400 or better
He is on campus next weekend
Not anymore. He committed to UF.
That explains the Smith recruitment.
I'm not sure bringing in Smith was related to Chiles. His commitment to UF seems to have been a surprise to everyone in the recruiting industry
Damn. That sent Chiles up my spine.
That's quite a linebacker haul for Florida. The #4,5,6 per 247.
None of it will matter. Sunbelt Billy is an objectively worse coach than Dan Mullen.
fuck Florida
+1 insightful
This sentiment is always appropriate. It's similar to another saying we're all fond of - 'fuck Ohio'...
And also, if any team has a 10-win ceiling, it's Floriduh.
Wingdings seems to think so
Wow, what in the hell happened with Chiles?!? 1 FLA visit and he commits to Florida? Weird.
It sounds like UF absolutely pulled out the money cannon this weekend. When I think 5 guys, some of which were heavy leans elsewhere, all commit on the Saturday of their visit something happened that made them pull the trigger immediately. This is also just classic Michigan luck. Chiles wanted to commit on his last visit but his dad made him wait to visit other places
Chiles wanted to commit on his last visit but his dad made him wait to visit other palaces
Freudian slip or intentional?
Mobile auto spelling correct lol
Yeah something weird when you just randomly commit like that and don't even wait for your official to the school that you originally wanted to commit to.
Sucks because he was a pretty elite LB recruit and I'm not sure who the back up plan is. I know Beasley is a LB and Curtis/Sullivan and Smith are LBs sorta.
I think Smith and Sullivan could both definitely end up at LB. Just depends on how their bodies mature
It’ll be interesting to hear what Sam Webb has to say about Chiles to Florida. Webb had a crystal ball in for Chiles to Michigan with a confidence level of 7. Almost all the crystal balls he puts in are a confidence level of 6, so he felt extra confident in this pick. I guess keep recruiting the kid and see if Florida offered all these guys (who committed today) something they ultimately can’t deliver on…like they did with the QB kid they had last cycle.
When Florida goes 6-6, we'll see who sticks to what
He can transfer if he wants, but it won't be to Michigan. We'll have a team put together and working, so he'll be left peering though the window with both hands blocking out the glare from the hot spotlights of national attention, thinking 'I could have been part of that'.
And also because the admissions offices will not accept any transfer credits from Floriduh.
Not transfer. Switch commitment
That program isn't in a good place right now either. Back-to-back 6-7 seasons. Another mediocre season and they might have some recruits thinking twice no matter how good the NIL is. This is definitely a recruit your gonna want to keep going after until he signs.
From the sounds of things, Chiles silent committed to Michigan on his previous visit a few months back, but his dad wanted him to go on his officials so he held off on publicly announcing anything. I don't fault Webb for having high confidence, but Michigan probably should've done more to wrap this one up earlier.
If this really was a rash decision though, I'd expect us to maneuver an official in the fall.
“but his dad wanted him to go on his officials so he held off on publicly announcing anything.”
I.E., dad knew where the guaranteed big money was going to come from and it wasn’t Michigan.
Was Partridge involved in Chiles’s recruitment?
Yes, Partridge picked things up when he was hired.
What more should they have done?
Wasn’t just Sam Webb, almost every recruiting service was unanimously confident in Chiles going to Michigan and seemed shocked he picked Florida. It especially sucks because Chiles and Darien Mayo had discussed playing together
Yes, everyone thought Chiles was coming to Michigan. Since Sam is more connected than most and put in a crystal ball with a higher level of confidence than he ever does, it’ll just be interesting to hear what he finds out about how the situation suddenly changed.
Just another example of how nothing is for certain in recruiting. Sam gets a lot of flak on here. Those that criticize him from their arm chair recruiting chair should take pause and remind themselves that he's one of the best there is out there in the recruiting game.
