Video of Little Boy Who Wants to Join the Michigan Marching Band Goes Viral
You might have seen this, because the video is going viral on Facebook. A little boy from Howell named Henry wrote a letter to the Michigan Marching Band, telling them he would love to join the band someday. The band sent him back some swag and a note, and when he read the note, he started crying tears of joy.
The video is HERE if you want to see it. It's priceless, and it's gonna make you cry.
Channel 4 in Detroit saw the video and did a story on him tonight. You can see that HERE.
Way to go, Henry. Way to go, Michigan Marching Band.

A child's joy and innocence is the greatest thing ever.
My girls are now beyond this stage in life, and it breaks my heart sometimes.

Mine too. Time for a CSB.
When my son was 2 or 3 he was completely obsessed with Thomas the Train. That's all he wanted to play with and watch on TV. He would even introduce himself as characters from the show when meeting new people (which I thought was hilarious).
Well those trains and all the associated gear are pretty expensive. So I looked around for 2nd hand stuff and found a kid in middle school selling a massive collection of trains, tracks, buildings, and accessories. Two huge plastic tupperware storage boxes full. I paid him $150 for what probably amounted to $1,500 of toys when they were new.
On Christmas eve I set up the whole thing all throughout the house. The tracks made a gigantic loop into and out of every room (except the bedrooms and bathroom). It took hours to get it right. Just before he woke up we put about a dozen battery powered trains on the tracks and started running them.
He woke up to the sounds of the trains and I have never seen a person that happy or excited, before or since. Those tracks stayed up for months. We had to remove them one section at a time to be able to clean the floors. He played with those toys for years. Best $150 I ever spent.
TL;DR? I'm an awesome dad.

I'm trying to figure out if you're an awesome and wonderful person who pretends to be a vile and disgusting human or a vile, disgusting human who pretends to be an awesome dad. Hmmm. The secrets that hide in the internet.

It's both. The Hatter has Jeckell & Hyde syndrome.

i am convinced that hatter is a very good dude, but with a big wild side that was contained only by maturity and the realities of being an adult.

Bingo!
And thanks for that.
Also, people think I'm a bigger asshole than I actually am because I'm a free speech absolutist and I despise political correctness. So I don't fit in so well with the current culture.

Your politically correct name should be The Unsound Mind Hatter

I’m picturing Les Miles standing around the junior high playground at recess. Working his connections like Vinny, the 8th grader who knows how to get Thomas the Train, the good shit, as long as he doesn’t get grounded again.

What a great story. I'm glad the MMB responded properly. I definitely shed tears as a kid for the Maize and Blue. Now I just cut onions or play in sand storms. My son is six and he hasn't fully bought into the Michigan thing . . . yet (crosses fingers).

That is so cute. Best wishes to the little guy.

Shout out /thanks to Dr. Pasquale (band director) he appears to be just a likable guy every time I see or talk to him pregame at Yost. The MMB seem to love him as well.
Truth in advertising (posting): I have practiced and performed under Dr. Pasquale’s baton for two halftime shows.

So glad my parents did not post videos of me on the internet!

Yeah. It's a really cute story but I feel slightly weird as a stranger watching the video of his teary reaction.

That young man needs the opportunity to watch the band (and game) from both the sideline as well as the booth.
GO BULE!!..... ???
(He might need to practice his English skills along with his music. Still plenty of time left. The penmanship needs work also, but mine isn't much better - thank God for digital print!)

Wow. I wish every child could find a positive passion as this young man has. Most just want to play video games.

Spot on. This kid has something you can't teach. Believe me, I have tried for years to instill any kind of passion for any interests my kids have. My kids are incredible people but they lack this little boy' s pure enthusiasm. I hope he is able to maintain this over the coming years. Awesome story.
