Update on Josh Furman's knee injury

Submitted by rdlwolverine on
Here is an update on Josh Furman's knee injury sustained in the Maryland 4A State Championship game from the Washington Post "The day after the title game Josh Furman saw an orthopedic surgeon, whoo said there didn't appear to be any ligament or structural damage and cleared Furman to playi in the Maryland Crab Bowl all-star game on Dec. 19. Furman will undergo a precautionary MRI exam on Friday, according to his father." Furman is a class of 2010 recruit that has narrowed his choices to Michigan and Virginia Tech. He plans to announce his decision at the Crab Bowl.

Why jeopardize the next step in realizing his undoubted dream of getting to the NFL by playing in a game that means nothing? I think the far wiser thing would be to allow his knee/leg as much time to heal and get back to 100% as possible. The fact that Michigan is recruiting him has nothing to do with this view. Nothing at all.

Looks like a smart kid (I am basing this solely on the fact that he wears glasses). I think that he'll sit this one out. The risk is just too much greater than whatever reward playing in the Crab Bowl would be....unless, of course, his lifelong dream was to play in the Crab Bowl.

the exact same assumption. Intelligence is clearly positively correlated with wearing glasses. However, Mr. Furman could prove to be a difficult read for someone who thinks that intelligence is negatively correlated with dreads. Racists everywhere probably don't know what to think about him.

That is great news. Wherever he goes it is good to hear he isn't seriously injured but if I were his father I would be echoing Dons' post. Why risk it. If it was bad enough to see a specialist and get an mri on then I would have to imagine it is not 100% and won't be after practicing for the Crab Bowl. If by "playing" in it, the doctor means he is cleared to choose Michigan than I am all for it. If not then I would just sit this one out. No one will fault him or question his toughness.
