UofM in Jeopardy Semis

Submitted by mattbern on
If anyone's been watching Jeopardy recently, they have been doing the whole college student contest. A girl from U of M has made it to the semi-finals. Not only is she representing Michigan in Jeopardy, but she also has a name that could probably compete for name of the year. Unfortunately I can't remember what her name is..it was pretty long. Anyway, just thought I'd give everyone something to root for with basketball and hockey not doing great this season and with recruiting wrapped up for this class. Go Blue.

I thought she was in huge trouble last night but she caught fire late in Double Jeopardy and correctly answered the Final question to get in via wild card. Watching the show, it looked like she had the questions figured out she just couldn't get the rhythm down to click in before the other two players. Once she figured it out she seemed to be in control. Hopefully the momentum can carry over. /Jeopardy analysis

I saw the episode. Yeah, she came on strong by answering the children's books column. Was in third the whole episode (definitely was not in control) until she answered final jeopardy to get into second place. There was at least one instance where she flipped out on the buzzer after the washu guy, but didn't go for it when he got the question wrong. Good acting. Not hopeful about Michigan's chances. /Reality

I went to high school with Surya. She's younger than me, but we were in a couple of academic-type activities together. She's absurdly and ridiculously smart, and a very, very nice girl, too. Glad to see she's doing so well on Jeopardy.

A friend of mine who graduated from U of M last spring will be on Jeopardy coming up on the 15th. His name is Yevgeny if you end up watching.

Well, sure beats about 8 years ago when a friend of mine from grade school ended up on college Jeopardy -- for OSU. *shudder*
