Unverified Voracity Takes It Well
Just one MGoUser's humble suggestion for the title of the recap today. At the 8:57 mark of the game, after the officials went over to the coaches to explain the foul call on Payne, Izzo looks over at Beilein and drops a "F*** you".
John Beilein is officially in Tom Izzo's head.

(or another court-wandering coach) because it would be hilarious to see them try to sort out the call. You can't possibly call anything on the player right? It would have to be a technical on the coach
February 24th, 2014 at 12:07 PM ^
I remember this during the game was hoping and praying that Stauskas would just go plow him over. I would teach my players to go immediately run over a coach if they are standing on the court that close to you. I assume it would be an automatic technical if not worse
February 24th, 2014 at 11:31 AM ^
I have never understood why opposing coaches don't instruct their players to watch for this and run a play right through Izzo. If a player makes contact — even one without the ball — doesn't the ref pretty much have to call the technical? I mean, granted, they should probably call it regardless, but since every referee in the college game seems content to pretend it's not happening, I don't see why some coach wouldn't roll the dice and see if they could force the call to be made.

That is absolutely ridiculous.

it's arrogant as hell and he should have been T'd up right then and there. He's impeding our player over there if he decides to break that way.
That crybaby sumbitch is really getting on my nerves. OTOH, I do enjoy when it looks like his head might explode, resulting in a cascade of tears.

He is a perfect caricature of the Spartan fanbase as a whole. I both love him, and hate him with equal fervor. I can't imagine another individual coach eliciting the emotion that he does from me, and it makes the rivalry that much better because of it (for me at least).
That said; it clearly should have been a tech, and that wasn't the only time in this game. It's absurd that he never gets called for it, just absurd. In the end, I think I like the fact that we beat them soundly and in a way that they really can't squirm out of with any excuse. I love it. Go Blue.
Beilein uber alles.

That's his new 3-3 Izzone Trap

should have truck-sticked him. Just plowed him ower at full speed.

Izzo would not be able to shoot his free throws with his wing in a sling.

Did anyone else see that Stauskas pass to Levert at the end of the half almost hit Izzo right between the eyes? He was about 3 feet on the court and had to jump out of the way just in time to see Levert gleefully running to the locker room, as the ball splashed through the hoop.
February 24th, 2014 at 9:55 AM ^
Just watched the replay, what an asshole. Probably was trying to block the view of LeVert since he saw him flying down wide open. How does the ref right there not warn him to not step on the court again?

I met Beilein once. He is a nice guy, but he's tougher and harder than he appears in interviews and press conferences.

This is as it should be. You've got to be a little dickish if you're going to be a successful head coach. Many if not most of the most successful HCs in any sport are not "nice guys" between the lines.

I would definitely get a beer with Bill Belichick. In the sense that I would let him buy me one and then leave.

but I'm not convinced that's a "fuck you."

As a master of reading baseball mound speak, I can tell you with near certainty that was a "fuck you" albeit should've probably been a "fuck me".

Izzo tears are so yummy and sweet.
What a douchebag, yet they love him up there in RCMB country.

he would never utter such curses. He shall lead our Pistons to victory in the near future, I say!

Say what you want about Izzo, his reaction to the make up call for Morgan's "blocking foul" was pretty funny. He wanted to make sure both Beilein and the refs knew it was all even now.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:58 AM ^
Well, I think he was working it AGAIN.
Why? Because one makeup foul didn't correct things. Not only should there not have been a foul on Morgan, there should have been a charge called against MSU. Izzo was trying to prevent the deserved two foul swing by implying that things were now all even.
February 24th, 2014 at 11:21 AM ^
Sometimes two calls (one against a starting center and the other against a scrub foul collector) aren't even. Of course, didn't really matter in the end.
February 24th, 2014 at 11:52 AM ^
I actually loved that exchange and wish the announcers would have talked about it. The call on Morgan was crap and Izzo telling Beilein "you got it, you got it, we're even" while laughing was pretty great.
February 24th, 2014 at 10:44 AM ^
I'm no Izzo fan, but I don't see him saying 'fuck you' here. From his lips, I see "thank you", and I think that's more fiting for the situation.
We are making too big of deal here IMO.

...and most especially to an opposing coach, even if it's your rival.
The way I interpret the situation is that Izzo was looking for some sort of affirmation. The ref obliged and Izzo said, "thank you".
February 24th, 2014 at 11:23 AM ^
I thought one of Izzo's most obnixous moves was moving on the court and loudly clapping right behind the head of one of our guys (mayeb GRIII). It was fairly early on...and seems pretty inappropriate.

How long until Will Ferrell does an Izzo impersonation?

I'm shocked it took this long to become a topic on here. Saw it yesterday, but didn't have the internet connection to throw it out there. I'm not sure it's "fuck you". That first word sure looks like "Fuck", though.
February 24th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
Love beating him, but he didn't stoop to that level. My only gripe w Izzo is him playing defense on every possession.

He's not a dirty coach, but he didn't have clean hands in the 90's...no one did. Ed Martin sent players all over the place.
February 24th, 2014 at 2:38 PM ^
Yes lets all fight over something that no one can prove. I say he was saying it to the inbounder for such a horrible pass.
