Uniformz: Hideous Adidas Nebraska alternates

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

adidas has really been pushing the fishnet-look on their jerseys.

This is the absolute worst.

That was once a proud program built on winning and tradition. Now they wear stuff you'd see on Derek Zoolander and hired Mike Riley. Yikes.

Ouch.  That Mike Riley is a freak behind closed doors.

The main hope is the pattern doesnt show up too strong on distance shots so it will look more black but closeups...ugh.

Helmet is decent but the color scheme sure doesnt scream Nebraska.  Unless you are talking about their practice defense I guess!

More adidas fishing net-look

Even the Trainer 2.0s by adidas for Michigan have that stupid shit on it.

Thank God for Hackett.

I was going to buy a pair of those Michigan adidas shoes before the season starts (to go along with my game day khakis).  Thanks to the new Nike contract, I don't really need to anymore.  Maybe I can get a good pair on sale?

They'll be on sale for 75% off at the Art Fair next year because nobody who is in the know is going to be buying adidas anything unless they don't really care about being current.

MDen's sales are going to take a slight hit this year. They'll still make a ton of cash, but the Nike wave is going to fix that next Fall.

Wait, I wore a Nike hoodie during the adidas years.  Does that make me an unwashed heathen?  I have an adidas M hoodie that is awesome.  Do I need to throw that out to avoid committing a fashion faux pas?

If it looks sharp and fits well, who cares about the logo.  Those adidas shoes above are sharp if you ask me.

I haven't bought anything adidas since January and will never again unless it's championship gear.

I bought a WCWS shirt in June but again, that's the only occasion I'll buy stuff from them. That's a complete waste of money to buy adidas gear when 1) it will all be 75% next year and 2) won't be current in a year.

The "stupid shit" on the shoes is mesh over venting, I'm pretty sure, so it's at least a functional (cooler and lighter) feature for a running shoe.

And admit it, if it had a swoosh instead of 3 stripes you'd already own a couple pairs.

Wow, thats just depressing. The black and red combo can look really good, but there's so much crap on that uniform that it just became an atrocity. We need a priest to exorcise this mess.

I don't like the line down the middle of the 5, but I do like the jersey in general.  Think they are pretty cool.  Would not like MIchigan versions of them, but I bet the players think they are "on fleek" or whatever the college age kids are saying right now.

I highly doubt any of them are going to go on twitter and say "this shit ugly af". Because that's probably what most of them think.

Adidas is just not cool with people my age. And it's stuff like this that is going to keep it that way.

I wouldn't talk for all people your age.

I bet 75% of high-school kids in Nebraska think these uniforms are sweet.  I just showed them to a group of high schoolers and they all thought they were awesome.

My kids think everything is free, like food and gas and electricity are simply provided.

I made my sone get a job the second he turned 16 and when he got his first paycheck he was like "where'd half my money go?"

I just have never gotten the "well the players like them" arguments. For one thing, we have no clue if the players actually like the alternates. None of them are realistically going to go on Twitter or something and talk about how horrible a uniform looks. It's athletic departments and the apparel companies trting to promote them as having huge support to get people excited ... to buy jerseys. Plus, if a kid doesn't think that the Maize and Blue or that winged helmet are "cool" enough, go somewhere else, IMO.
