UC: Uniform change-Jimmy Butler takes 75% paycut to leave Adidas
In all things uniform. This is quasi-related.

Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler is one of the rising stars in the NBA, and has been making interesting financial choices of late: Butler turned down a $44 million extension from the Bulls prior to this season, and took a massive paycut to switch from adidas kicks to Jordan Brand.
Butler, a restricted free agent this summer, dropped the Three Stripes in favor of the Jumpman despite what his agent says was a 75% hit on his wallet.
these are the Jordan 5's he's referencing in the video
Wow, is it just me or are these posts starting to get really annoying? I know it's the summer doldrums but an entire thread about a former Marquette player who now plays for the Bulls turning down a <$1m/year Adidas shoe deal to switch to a brand led by the hometown hero..maybe I don't get it but I just don't find it interesting/newsworthy.
And headlines have to capture clicks, so the statement of how he took a 75% paycut to move away from Adidas may be misleading; I haven't seen the contract but could he have turned down guaranteed money for more upside? Or what about more flexibility in the contract? Long-term branding? Other merchandising options? I feel like there could have been some other reasons that aren't explained, but those reasons would have reduced the thin facade of "newsworthiness" the article contained.
Fair disclosures: I I didn't watch the video since I'm at work. I know people who work at Adidas. Also, I wear Adidas running apparel exclusively.
Why did you delete a constructive conversation? Awareness needs to be raised on certain subjects and you just deleted every comment doing so, shame on you! No one was getting personal, what was the reasoning?
You let so much other unfiltered and unconstructive stuff stay up but you delete a conversation advocating for not using the R word?
Weak shit MODS, really weak shit...
ok, thats kind of funny, I must admit that joke crossed my mind as well, wait, NOT FUNNY
Hey, man, the mods deleted an inflammatory string of posts that took away from the discussion at hand. They did their jobs. Let it go.
I'm glad these are getting deleted. The Adidas v Nike threads are 90 % shit and simply re-hash what was said in the last lame Adidas v Nike thread.
Moreover, it's been darn near impossible to have a cogent discussion on the topic. People think Nike rules and Adidas sucks:
- Don't like bumble bee stripes? Blame the school -- they approved that shit for production.
- Both Adidas and Nike use nearly similar materials in many cases and from the same collection of mills.
- Both Adidas and Nike use the same 3rd world sweat shop labor to put their shit together.
If you look at the AD's books, the amount of money we get from Adidas is remarkably similar to the the amount in the black Michigan is. Nobody has ever offered an intelligent discussion regarding how that money would be made up if Michigan switched.
not sure if you are late to the party or what...?
WD must've gotten a tan and some hormone therapy to boot.
He probably had all the facts and figures in front of him and made an educated and informed decision based on his preferences.
I doubt ignorance or stupidity played a role.

Jimmy Butler is really set to cash in by both turning down the extension and his choice to go with NIke. Because of his free agent status, either the Bulls will pay him much, much, more, or he will be taking his talents to a higher bidder. Of course, people will be waiting to see what happens with the coaching situation now.
