The University officially announced John Paul as the first varsity lacrosse head coach. Only right as he worked his ass off building the program up to the D1 level. Im extremely proud and excited for him.. Go Blue
...is identical to the Athletics Department press release.
Congrats to Coach Paul. That's quite the vote of confidence he's been given.
Played club lax at Michigan during JP's first few years as head coach. Really has done an amazing job of taking the "keg on the field" culture and transforming the entire program into one that is serious about being competitive and winning championships. It's only fitting that he stays at the helm for their inaugural voyage into varsity.
First, John Paul was beatified at the Vatican in the beginning of May. A month later, he's proclaimed head coach of our freshly minted D1 Lax team. Congrats!
Lot of people seemed to think there needed to be a national search or that somehow Petro from Hopkins was the surprise pick, but it seems to me there's a right way and a wrong way to do things and the right way in this case ought to be obvious. Congrats to Coach Paul, it must be literally a dream come true for him.
There was only one obvious choice for what to do and that is let the man continue what he started and worked incredibly hard for.
We need to be comfortable with our own identity, not try to pretend to be Hopkins. He took us this far with basically nothing, I'm sure he can do even more with a varsity program.
