I love when kids rise above their situations.

is just sick right now. If Garnett comes in I really don't see how any OT would want to come to M next year. Kid has great size and is a great athlete.....good head on his shoulders, BUT geez we have Braden, Williams, Kalis, Magnusen and maybe Garnett...........

The OL is very thin right now, so there will opportunity to play early even with the incoming class. Plus, Ohio has put together a rediculous DL class so if you want experience against the best on a huge stage, M is the place to be.

Williams looks like he'll still be playinig tight end. Garnett isn't a lock to play tackle here. He might be moved to guard. As was already said, we have depth issues. 2013 guys will have to deal with a lot of competition, but it will be healthy competition. Furthermore, offensive linemen can get injured very easily. We were very lucky to not lose anyone for major parts of this season. Depth is very important as is competition.

Kalis and Garnett might wish to play Tackle, and one or both of them might begin there to provide depth, but both would likely end up Guards at Michigan. They'd be ideal with their athletecism in the power run game to pull and block, and get to the next level.
Lack of depth will allow us to take 2 top OLine classes back to back as well, which is awesomein a way. Next year we'll have 8 returning OLinemen on scholarship, it would be nice to have 10-15. By 2013 we'll have 10 returning scholarship Olinemen, but 6 of them will have been from the 2012 class, and most will have redshirted, so we'll only have between 5 and 6 returning scholarship linemen with any playtime. We can take 4 or 5 more comfortably in 2013. 2 Tackles for when Lewan and Schofield leave, a dedicated Center, and a Guard.

Luckily, we're in on a lot of highly-rated recruits, but stories like Logan's and Darboh's make it very easy for me to decide who I want playing for my team in Ann Arbor.

There are so many good players, you're probably going to be happy with anyone. What differentiates the people I want here are their desire to be at Michigan and their strength of character. This kid seems to get it. That's why I want LTT.

Wouldn't they tell him they want him to be right tackle when they mentioned Shane Morris who is left handed?
December 22nd, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
This was in the article:
He added, regarding Warren DeLaSalle's Shane Morris: "They were telling me about how they want me to be their blind-side blocker for the quarterback they signed. It was good to hear that they're making moves and getting some of the top talent."
So yes, they were telling him that.

Would love to have this kid at Michigan! Sounds like a very well-grounded and determined kid. Go BLUE!!

I've mentioned this in other threads, but I coached FB at Logan's school. It's a tough area and the fact that he's still in school and trying to "get out" is an accomplishment in itself.
A few years back I had a student in class who had academic and athletic promise. He suddenly missed several days of school in a row, and when he came back I was ripe to bitch him out about how he's likely ineligible and his college dreams were in serious jeopardy. I didn't get the chance because he came back apologizing and begging for me to work with him to keep him eligible. I was waiting for the bullshit excuse when he showed me the bullet holes in his leg and side. I said, "Oh, nice to have you back." It's a strange and difficult place.

Seems like a great kid and very driven. Also, concerned about academics & going the extra mile to make sure they're in line with after school tutoring. If there was a perfect mold of a Michigan Man, this type of kid is it. Same goes for Bolden and Josh Garnett.
Having family in the area isn't going to hurt our chances; especially with his Mom moving to wherever he goes to school.

Will a kid grow after 16?

Thanks for the link. I hope he continues to improve and develop. He certainly seems motivated to do so.
Regarding OL recruiting, and whether we can continue to recruit at this level: I sure hope so! Ideally, I would think that guys on the OL would redshirt for one year, be backups for two, and start for two years. It takes time to learn, and to compete. I trust the coaching staff to be able to evaluate who should be playing, and I think most players know who should be on the field.
As regards Tuley-Tillman, he would sign a LOI in February 2013, in all likelihood redshirt 2013-2014, and be ready to play by the Fall of 2014, possibly not seeing significant time until 2015. That would be when the tremendous incoming class are upper-classmen.
I hope that Hoke continues to be aggressive in recruiting the OL. Without the big uglies, we will never be any good.

All the cryptic Tom hints point toward him being blue before his next season which is his time line.

Sounds like a great kid, so I don't know why he'd have any interest in playing for Brian Kelly. Hope we get him in Maize and Blue.
