Tremendous Updates Us On Logan Tuley-Tillman (2013 Recruiting Class)

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

The bullet points (taken from the article):

  • Logan had a great visit at Alabama. Michigan and Alabama are tied at the top as of right now.
  • Logan is not making a decision anytime soon and will decide at whichever AA game he plays in next year. This is a change as he originally had planned on deciding by the end of March. He said he wants to give all the schools he is interested in a fair shot.
  • His top five (based on the officials he said he'd take as of now): Michigan/Alabama and USC, Oregon and Florida State in no particular order. Note that Oregon and USC haven't offered Logan yet, but are certainly likely to. He plans on taking unofficials to both schools in the near future.
  • He'll be in Ann Arbor this Friday and will be going to the hockey game vs. Miami (OH) with a couple of the coaches and will visit Iowa afterwards on Saturday.
  • He's been hearing from Oklahoma lately as well and has 22 offers overall now.

Well, that's legit, but his point was that 2013 recruiting was too far off for him to follow, not he wanted to make sure it wasn't from even further out than that.

I agree that we're kind of in an overlap period right now, but I would hope that Logan Tuley-Tillman doesn't need a year after his name at this point.

Unless a 2013 guy has committed, I think we should maybe refrain from posting minor tidbits about 2013 recruits until after Friday. Far be it from me to tell anyone what to do, but I just know that I and others have found it a bit annoying to sift through all this stuff only to find out something is about a 2013 recruit.

I understand that the recruiting news has started earlier than it was in the past, but this is not too early for 2013 recruits.  We've had 2013 commits for months, and kids commit all the time now.  TOMORROW is 2012 signing day for crying out loud, so the only 2012 recruiting posts will be about someone you've certainly heard of or a 260 post thread about a surprise, which you can't miss.

Point is, a year ago we had had many threads on RJS, James Ross, Danny O'Brien, Matt Godin and many other 2012 kids already, so this is certainly not too early to discuss 2013 recruits.

If you aren't interested in recruiting until it really heats up, that's fine.  But for those of us who are interesting, there is already lots of 2013 action to read up on.

I think maybe I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I have no problem with 2013 recruiting news well in advance (i.e. the stuff that has been on this blog seemingly since Shane Morris committed), just during the very last couple of days of the 2012 signing period. I think it can lead to confusion unneccesarily when I think the blog's time is better focused on the 2012 class, just for the next day or two. For example, there was a post about a 4* CA TE on the board yesterday and I had no idea until I excitedly googled that he was a 2013 recruit.

Again, far be it from me to dictate content, as I'm but a lowly 3-digit MGoPointer, but the lack of focus, at least just this week has been somewhat aggravating. Prior to this week, I am all aboard early analysis and content regarding 2013 recruits. Just as I will be after this week.

This post might have too much stuff ripped from the article.  I got all the info I was interested in and realized I wouldn't be clicking through to read the fluff, etc.

Hate being 'that guy' etc etc, but I think this is just a bit too far over the line.

the longer LTT holds out, the less I like our chances. I know that seems odd but the coaching staff likes to fill the spots early and look at the diamond situation. On this day last year we were like yeah come on down big fella. Today were just hoping he picks us.

I would just much rather have him secured and maybe have him start working on the other great illinois kids. If we could get the big 5 from illinois I would be the happiest man alive. (LTT, Treadwell, Issac, pocic, and bosch) I know its a pipe dream but I'm pretty sure were near the top of there list on all of them. (right???)
