Trapped in Ohio
I have my back up against the wall this morning gentlemen. Left Tennessee yesterday to drive to Ann Arbor for the game this weekend and to visit friends and family this week.
My car broke down in Piqua, Ohio last night at 9:30. I almost got ran over by a truck and coasted with no power into the rest area going northbound. Immediately I started getting torn up by Buckeye fans who saw my Michigan jacket that I was wearing working under my hood. "I hope you have a sleeping bag"..."Wrong place to breakdown"...yada yada.
I changed up my gameplan. Called the tow place, changed my jacket to a brown sweater...made up the story that I had a family emergency and now I am in a hotel waiting for a new alternator belt to be put on by a bunch of Buckeye fans. Saw two Buckeye hats at the service station and a flag.
I'm deep in enemy territory. My back is up against the wall and I am sitting here with my Michigan ticket. I refuse to miss this game fellas. Say a prayer for me...you have one soldier down. Go Blue!

I will pray for you, just keep thinking about the game cause when you get there and watch Michigan whoop the Hawkeyes you will forget about this misfortune. Stupid Buckeyes can't take anything seriously.

Have the local news videotape you and send us hidden messages via video. We'll come to the rescue. Good luck with the belt -- hopefully you'll be in AA soon.

Sounds like the Buckeye fans gave you some minimal abuse. You got off easy...this is hunting season. It could have been much worse.
Hope you make the game.

That movie makes me cringe, poor Ned Beatty....anyhoo, maybe initiating a round on the end and HI in the middle to the mechanics will get them to chop chop on the repairs. The means to an end...I'll be keeping fingers crossed you get up to A2 on time, keep us posted as to the outcome.

Since Tennessee fans are still whining that Charles Woodson stole "Peyton Manning's Heisman," I'm not guessing you get treated all that well while wearing the Michigan jacket in Tennessee, either.
Good luck and I hope you make it to Ann Arbor.

and like Beavis my heart immediately went out to you.
After reading - that was hilarious.
Sad and I still hope you make it out with your intelect and front teeth intact, but hilarious.
Soldier on, Bro.

At least those buckeye grads should be good at changing an engine belt. Make sure you tell them how to do it. Lucky for you there were no injuries involved.

Just talked to a mechanic. Well...I think it was a human. I honestly heard a bunch of mumbling...something about 1 o'clock and 300 dollars. That leaves me 170 miles with 2.5 hours to make kickoff. Screw it. I'm not missing this game-GO BLUE!

during a snow storm. I had my car fixed in Piqua as well. it is a scary place, and I still had Ohio plates at the time. I know exactly how you feel right now.

Piqua isn't so bad. Just be thankful you were coming up 75 and not 71....or that you're not stuck in Columbus like me.

Behind enemy lines. Yikes. See if you can find the "singing Brutus guy" from earlier in the week. I'm sure he lives alone...in his mom's basement.

Not sure why a lot of people say "posted from my iPhone". If you are concerned about your grammar and punctuation, get the MGoBlog app from the app store. It makes it easy to post and also spellchecks.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:41 AM ^
It says "posted from my iPhone" because in the app if you don't put text in the subject line that's what the app automatically places there.

Let some chew run down your chin and neck, rub car grease around your navel and let your zipper down while saying go bucks...that should do it.

I am about to leave the hotel and venture out into Piqua. I have about a mile to walk to the mechanic. I'm putting on my Michigan jacket and "I'm All in for Michigan" t-shirt. If these punks take me down here and I don't make it out, I just wanted to leave some thoughts:
1-Although I don't write a lot on the board...I read it everyday religiously and it's my favorite website of all time.
2-I love Michigan football more than most things in my life. If I die, let it be known.
3-If these Buckeye punks come after me...I want you fellas to know...I'm bringing 4 down with me. I'm not goin down without a fight. It's what the team would want.
Signing off. Go Blue.

Godspeed soldier! If you do manage to get the car back on the road be mindful of the SS (Ohio Highway Patrol) down that way. They don't give warnings to Michigan Men. As Chris Farley would say, "I know from experience if you know what I mean"

Good luck and keep us informed. I flew in Friday with the hopes of going to the game. One of the guys I went to college with is shooting camera at the game and thought he could get me in. It didn't work out but I'm here with the folks so a weekend with them is cool. Also where in Tennessee ? I live in the Northeast corner in Kingsport. Hope you make it and cheer your ass off.
