Top 20 - three B1G East and four Pac-12 teams

Its a shame that the Pac12 is likely to cannibalize itself this year. They might have the best top half of any league right now. Hopefully they get a team in the CFP. Last one was UW 7 years ago

And that ended UM's last chance for the playoff that year.

they easily have the best QBs of any conference this season. It really does suck that they can't build on that and continue as a conference.

Yeah cause Bo Nix and Penix Jr. are in their 400th season.

At first I thought you were talking about the old Big East. Boy do I miss the days of 6 power conferences.

The Big East should be revived with these schools:
Boston College
Syracuse
Pitt
West Virginia
Va Tech
Penn State
Rutgers
UConn
Temple
Louisville
Cincinnati
ND

How about Maryland? Maybe they go to the ACC?

In my dream scenario, the 70 Power 5 schools (i'm still counting Wazzu and Oregon State) would add in like Boise and SDSU or Memphis and Tulane or whomever, and go to 9 team conferences so we didn't have to deal with silly conference title games. or go to 10 7-team conferences, and keep rivalries alive with OOC games as half your schedule.
And then you could promote so the top, i dunno, 18 or 14 get to play in a super league so Fox and ESPN are happy and those winners get auto-bids to the semifinal - Rose and Sugar, on NYD - and everyone else slums into the first round (an 1/8 final) and a G5 team and 3 at large teams have a "play in" round instead of Conference Championships.the first week of december.
It sounds stupid because it prolly is, but it's almost definitely better than whatever we're doing next year and be honest - you'll still be watching no matter what

Polls are polls - focus is on Nebraska.

I love these comments. I wore the exact same unwashed shirt for every game in the 1997 championship year. I know it made a difference.

It certainly had an effect - just not on the outcome of any games.... ;)

Didn't realize you were on the scout team. Probably spend less time on this blog and more on gameplanning for some Chubba Purdy misdirection.

Utah is 4-0 without Cam Rising. Kyle Whittingham just keeps winning. The Big 12 is not going to enjoy playing his teams.

Their defense is just plain nasty. Can't wait to see that defense play against USC Oregon and Washington (they get all three in a 4 week span!).

If you consider the 2024+ Big Ten, it's six of the top ten teams

"September Maryland" should also move into the top 20 soon. They host 2-2 Indiana this Saturday, then travel the following week to The B1G Toilet.

Oregon State and Washington State are also in the Top 20. UCLA just dropped out but is still a pretty good team. Maryland should also be ranked probably.

I watched a good deal of the Terps at MSU game and came away underwhelmed. Their kicker missed 2 FG which makes our guy looking great. The MD running game is a notch or two lower than Rutgers. Tulia missed on several good pass attempts. Maybe MD played down to the spartans, who knows.
If the Terps can get to 5-0, they might get ranked.

Yeah, the bits of Maryland/MSU I watched were not encouraging for Maryland. MSU is a dumpster fire but Maryland seemed to continually try to put MSU back in the game with self-inflicted wounds. It looked to me like 2 bad teams, and MSU succeeded in being the much worse of the two.

I think I read that MSU didn't get any sacks, but from what I saw of the game, the Terps' QB was under near constant pressure, especially when MSU blitzed. Not impressed with Md's O line.
