TomVH: 2012 LB Reggie Ragland
I just wrote an article for U Recruit on 2012 LB Reggie Ragland, and thought I would share the Michigan news with you here.
Ragland currently has offers from Alabama, Auburn, and Kentucky. He's a 6-foot-4, 245-pound linebacker from Alabama that also plays wide receiver for his high school. He's a monster, and he's also hoping to hear from Michigan.
Of course Michigan is one of my top schools. I always loved to watch them play.
I also asked him about how Denard Robinson's success might help Michigan with recruiting:
He might win the Heisman this year. If we think the school isn't going to have players we might not look at them, so he helps them a lot.
Just a name to keep an eye on for the future. Most schools are recruiting him for linebacker or tight end.

stop.

I think this is the first time I've seen someone claim "First" on this site, hopefully it is also the last.

I feel like people claiming "first" happened a ton during the old Haloscan days. This was when I just lurked, and long before I ever registered.
Back when people besides "The Knowledge" got handle-jacked.
Oh, the good ole days. Sigh.

Man, I forgot how funny/annoying the handlejack fests were. Oh nostalgia.

my brain interprets it as "Halcyon"....and compared to what we went through the last 2 years, the days of Haloscan were relatively peaceful and calm.

Mlive this is not.

Immediate neg.

You have a bad reputation 'round these parts or there are some sore losers out there...
October 6th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
You lose.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:54 PM ^
Please land him. Then the student section will be decked out in doo-rags with someone holding a sign "Welcome to Ragland". Too much?
October 6th, 2010 at 12:57 PM ^
Yes, but still less likely to receive a negbang than the 'first' guy.
October 6th, 2010 at 1:06 PM ^
Its not like we're going to need to go out and buy doo rags....
I mean, maybe I'm crazy, but don't you all use them to keep your dreads tight wen you sleep?
I know i do.

How do you think Lloyd Brady keeps his shit tight, DO RAG!!!!!

A LB that Bama is recruiting? If he's good enough for Bama's D, he could probably start on ours right now.
In all seriousness though, RR needs to get in on more impact players on D, as has been rehashed here on the blog frequently.

That's a good size human being. 6'4" 245 as a junior makes me think he might outgrow LB, or just big a mega-size LB destroyer of worlds.
October 6th, 2010 at 1:03 PM ^
My thoughts exactly, that's a pretty beastly MLB at that size and as a Junior he's probably still growing!
October 6th, 2010 at 5:21 PM ^
In his senior year Brandon Graham was 6' 2" and 250. By the time he got to Michigan he was moved to DT. It seems likely that you're right about this guy outgrowing LB.

I doubt Nick Satan lets this kid out of state
October 6th, 2010 at 1:25 PM ^
That just gave me a vision of Nick Saban installing one of those invisible fences around Alabama and making all of the big-time in-state recruits wear shock collars. Would anybody put it past him?
October 6th, 2010 at 12:59 PM ^
This is good news. He would be an absolute Monster on our D.
October 6th, 2010 at 1:12 PM ^
At that size, I wonder if he'd be able to keep up with Denard in practice...
October 6th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
no one can keep up with Denard. so dont be silly.
October 6th, 2010 at 1:21 PM ^
I love that we are already talking about 2012 recruits and the fact that they are young and impressionable enough for Denard to have a big impact on their decision-making. I forget what it was like to be a junior in high school and be so influenceable (yes, I made up that word).

It's refreshing to hear that we're competing with Alabama for recruits. For a while there it seemed like we were going up against the Illinois's and Minnesotas of the world for recruits...and not always winning.
We are trending positively.
October 6th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
we can only compete with them for a few of the recruits each year. Sure, we can battle them for 20 or so of the same guys, but their second group of 20 we just can't seem to find offers for.
October 6th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
Makes me wonder if he's related to the actor Rags Ragland from the '30s and '40s, but somehow I kinda doubt it. That's a pretty unique last name though.
October 6th, 2010 at 2:36 PM ^
It might be hard to get him out of Alabama, but the positivity around Michigan is nice to hear.
October 6th, 2010 at 2:39 PM ^
I'm of the opinion that it only takes one or two high profile steals from the Alabama and Florida types of the world and we'll be in recruiting business.
