Tom Brady: Vindictive SOB

It seems Oakland was, in fact, in play. It was revealed by Dana White of UFC (not sure why he was involved) and confirmed by Gronk that before they signed with the Bucs, Brady and Gronk going to Oakland was nearly a done deal when Gruden nixed it.

Brady was on HBO's The Shop and spoke of a team that didn't want him, questioning why they would be, "sticking with that motherf...er?" Said MFer was apparently Derek Carr. He went on to say that because they rejected him, "he was going to f... (them) up!" He did that the next season when the Bucs beat the Raiders 45-20 with Brady going 33/45 for 369 yds, 4 TD, 0 INT, and a rushing TD.

You don't talk about Fight Club and you don't mess with Tom Brady.

Derek Carr is no Tom Brady, but hindsight is 2020. At the time, Derek Carr was 29 years old and while he hasn't been a world beater, he has shown that with the right parts he can get it done. When he had both Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree the team had a solid passing attack.

I could understand why Gruden would want a 29-year-old QB over a 40-year-old QB.

I'm as big of a Brady fan as there is, but I'm shocked he continues to play at this level. I can't fault someone for not putting their career on the line for a 40 year old QB.

That said, Gruden put his neck on the line by being an asshole and so the whole thing doesn't matter anyway.

Brady is like Michael Jordan. He always finds a slight to motivate him. Despite all of his success, he continues to have a huge chip on his shoulder. Even bigger than a Sparty.

Gruden got most of his rep in year one in Tampa, where he was fortunate to inherit an insanely talented team and face a SB opponent that had not changed their checks from the prior year when he was head coach.

If not for the laziness of Bill Callahan we might have forgotten about Gruden many years ago.

Also, "the emotional maturity of a child" is an interesting insight by Dr. Phil's comment above yours. There are athletes in every professional sport taking filthy in-game cheap hits at other athletes, for the slightest or most imaginary of reasons.

And after Mark Dantonio's "little brother" douchery, it's kind of hard to criticize a grown adult criticizing other grown adult in the same profession. Tom Brady felt slighted by their actions, and apparently used it to fuel his abilities. Pretty sure that's a good tactic, used by people in every industry. But apparently it's totally inappropriate and immature for Tom Brady to talk about it publicly.

Shut up and do your job, Tom Brady. /s

What's really delicious about this is a reporter asks Mark Davis if the Dana White story is true.

Davis says a lot of words but doesn't say anything:

“I heard about [White’s comments],” Davis said, via the Review-Journal. “That was what, two to three years ago or something? I don’t know. Talk to Dana. I remember that Tom Brady went to Tampa Bay. That’s basically what I remember."

So Davis' tap dancing around this basically confirms the org's incompetence got them again.
