Tom Brady still throwing well, and craps on ESPN guy

So this is fun...  Back in 2016, ESPN's Max Kellerman said Brady was going to "fall off a cliff" in terms of performance over the next few years.  So, after doing some throwing work, Brady posted a radar timed throw - 61mph!  Twit's did their thing retweeting, and Kellerman was called out.  Fun stuff!

Here's the story link.  It also contains a chart of 2017 Combine throwing speeds for reference.  Brady is impressive!!

Brady is the walking embodiment to showcase NFL rule changes.  If qb’s take care of themselves it will become the norm for the great ones to play into their 40’s.

The problem is that he spouts off outrageous takes simply for people like you who only want to be entertained (as you admitted). It’s the same philosophy a lot of news channels take on politics where they take outlandish stances and essentially make cartoon characters out of real people to entertain audiences that want to hate those people.

I personally only want that in my sitcoms and want it absent in my news coverage; whether that be sports or politics.

Perhaps, but it's a bit more nuanced because he does typically provide some (alleged) support for his argument, and Stephen A. will usually play devil's advocate. For me, the entertainment comes from considering his "argument" and then deciding if I agree or disagree. Sometimes he'll have interesting stats or analogies and I find it entertaining to consider them, and then see what my own view is.

At its core, isn't that what sports commentary is about? Other than Tony Romo, very few sports commentators are providing anything other than opinions. I guess occasionally someone will break a trade or signing rumor, but even those are often just pure speculation and not grounded in "inside information."

And you're right. News channels (often politics) often take a similar approach, but it's totally different because I know that sports are just entertainment, whereas news/politics has become way too emotional for people. With rare exception (M football and beating OSU specifically), I usually don't take sports too seriously.

The same question could be asked of Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless and others like them.  It is because they are loud, opinionated, bombastic personalities that are more interested in putting on a show than being right.  If you don't like them, don't watch.  It is that simple.  I haven't watched First Take in ten years and I feel like I'm a much happier person because of it.  lol

It was schtick. It was either he (Max Kellerman) or Stephen A that was going to say it.

They say this stuff for ratings, clicks, etc...

But he did throw in some data comparing Brady to other NFL QBs once they reached the 40 year old threshold. He had a case, but then again, this is Tom MF Brady we are talking about.

Ol’ Maxie Boy needed a hot (hawt) take at the time so there you go. I’m sure he’ll take advantage of this opportunity to double down with another hotter take.

People like Kellerman will keep predicting Brady's drop off every year until it actually happens. It won't matter that they are wrong 5, 10, or 15 times. They'll still celebrate like they can predict the future when they are inevitably right.

Kellerman is a hack and a caricature of a man.  He feels that if he yells the loudest, then he must be right.  He sucks and has always sucked.  He was terrible on boxing broadcasts, and for some reason he has parlayed that into a bigger role at ESPN.

The whole ESPN group of networks suck.  That's why I only turn it on for live sports.

"Fall off a cliff"? I am Tom Brady's age and I wish I could fall off a cliff by continuing to be the unquestioned starting QB of the New England Patriots.

Brady is totally the GOAT. Just an amazingly gifted athlete. I guess each generation says it but I can’t imagine there could ever be another 6 time SB champ. I hope he gets a couple more.
