Ticket Talk - Playoffs

*** Caveat, we have to win, got it***

I live in Georgia and am excited about  the next couple weeks.  I thought about going up for the Big Ten championship, but couldn't find someone to go with, so I talked to my dad and he's interested in the Championship game if they made it.  I think we could potentially have a good shot of making it since nothing outside of Georgia and possibly a pissed off or fired up Bama really worries me.  I personally think Bama gets curb stomped by Georgia and Michigan plays Cinci (which isn't easy, but it's a better option than others).  So, if all that were to clear up, when's the time to start paying attention to tickets for the Championship.  It's at Lucas Oil Stadium on January 10th.  I looked today and SeatGeek has tickets (with fees) ranging from $1,040 to $5,000+.  I'm good with spending 2k after fees on a ticket which right now would put me in the 400 section at the 20ish yard line.  What's your take on when is the best time to buy.  Do you do it now as you expect pricing to go up?  Are the prices out there now prayers looking for suckers?  There's not a ton of data out there about prices.  A couple articles showed some data, but nothing to make me feel confident I understand the timing.

2020 Championship Game average price was $2,863.  Rafter seats going for $1,043.  That was in Atlanta against Clemson, so 2 very close fan bases.

This article shows up to 2017 and shows a good graph.  Prices had been steeply climbing.

2021 tickets were $1,906.  Covid year, restrictions, not sure this is an accurate year to go off of, but those prices are pretty high for a crappy year.  I'm assuming the price they list is sans fees.

What's your thoughts?

I look at the National Championship for College Football like the Super Bowl. More tickets go to sponsors than actual fans and we pay a crap ton because of the few tickets available to us. It would be awesome to have the game so close and be able to go but I just can't spend $5-10k for 1 night of fun. I hope we win but will enjoy my seat in front of my TV. I might buy a tv bigger than my 65 and tell the wife that is the compromise...lol.

This is just like the final four in basketball. You can see the team colors behind the benches on the edges, but hardly any color in the prime seats at center court. It's a real shame.

I've been to 3 final fours, 2013 and 2018 for Michigan and sat up high. Ironically my best seats were for the 2008 FF for my grad school alma mater when I barely cared, 1st row behind the basket. Wish I could have swapped that for a Michigan FF.

My wife will be 8 months pregnant on January 10th... I love overseas and have floated the idea of flying direct to Indy on Sunday... going to the game Monday and then flying back the next morning... flight + ticket is easily over $5K...

There is a Samsung Ultra Short Throw projector that costs $5K... maybe my wife would compromise??

Going to piggy back this and ask if anyone knows what sections/pockets UM fans would sit in? Assuming a playoff that has Georgia #1 and UM #2, and then those teams meeting in the final, my guess is UM would get the visiting sideline at lucas oil.
