Ticket access after graduation

Submitted by Promote RichRod on
Sorry if this is a stupid question. What happens to ticket access once you graduate? I will graduate before next season (a grad school program, FWIW), so I imagine I will not be able to get my student section tickets. But do you get some sort of preferential treatment to get alumni tickets or anything? Or do I become part of the unwashed masses and resort to something like Craigslist? Thanks.

get on a season ticket holder list, and you do get preference as an alum. You may not get tickets right away though. I signed up for them but didn't get any for this year.

I'm in the same boat, and I'd be curious to know if there was a way for alumni to get preferential treatment for tickets. I graduated in spring '07 and went back for games each of the last two seasons. For the OSU game in '07 I was fortunate to have a friend still a student who sold me their tickets. For the MSU game this year, I was actually really surprised at how easy it was to just walk up to the stadium and buy a ticket from a random seller right before kickoff. Got a ticket for $50 bucks, unfortunately it was in the MSU section. I ended up leaving that area in the 1st quarter, getting a couple tickets from a couple of underclassmen leaving the game in the 1st quarter (who were surprisingly very willing to just give me their tickets as they talked on their blackberries while leaving the big house 10 minuts into the game), and watching the game from there.

I would recommend joining your local alumni association. I'm not certain how things are organized, but from what I can tell, there are some tickets allocated to regional alumni associations. You can then apply for tickets for individual games through your local group. I am out of state, so this may be more of an advantage to us who have to fly in for the games. If your local, this may not be a viable option. This method has worked well for me, but I haven't applied to any of the high-demand games.

Your best bet is if you have friends that are still in school they can find loser students who don't get tickets and you can still use your student id. I Graduated in may 2007 and have had season tickets the past 2 seasons and I plan on doing it for a while still :-p

Join the Alumni Association. Around March every year you get a mailing for Alumni tickets. You apply for the games you want. They are given out in the order they recieve them starting on a posted Date. If you send them too early they put you on the back of the line. You have to time when they are sent to arrive on a certain day. Then you may or may not get the tickets you requested. Last year I got half the tickets I applied for. Also, get on the waitlist yesterday and maybe in ten years they will call you w/ season tickets.

If you want a ticket a year, you can get your alumni tickets as explained in the previous comments. As I understand it, every local alumni association is granted a certain number of tickets to one game a year to distribute to its members. We're talking a Toledo game, not OSU. For season tickets, however, U of M uses a point system. Being an alum? One point (or so). Giving a thousand dollars to the alumni association? One point. Mailing in the scalp of a Buckeye? One point. And so on. If you are rich, it is a lot easier and a lot quicker to get season tickets than if you are a non-rich alum. To begin, you have to join the alumni association (even non-alums can do that, obviously). Then they mail you your little season-ticket-explainer-packet-thingy as discussed in the other posts. That should have all the details inside.

Go to MGoBlue.com and click on the Victors Club link. From that page, you can read all about the point system and preferred seating program.

Indeed. Or you will probably get mail about the Victors Club if you join the Alumni Club. I donated for the first time this year, and instead of getting the usual application to enter the drawing for tickets to one or two games, I was given the opportunity to buy a limited season ticket package (two tickets to every game except homecoming). I didn't take it because I'm on the other side of the country and couldn't make it back for any of the games, but hopefully in the future I will be able to if I get the offer again. Oh, and if you join the Alumni Club, they'll send you applications for one or two game packages (two games == one good game and one crappy one). As far as I can tell, it's not based on seniority, because I won tickets to the Ohio State game the first year after I graduated. So give that a try too.
