This website has been confirmed to be fake.
spoiler alert: i linked this
This website has been confirmed to be fake.
some breathtaking lengths if this is fake. Drop down menus on their main page for news, weather, sports, jobs, health, lifestyle, traffic ... content for all.
Google KCTV5 and you will find that they have both a twitter and facebook account as well as a wikepdia page. That would be an extremely elaborate hoax....... if it was a hoax.
The report may be bogus but it is pretty apparent that that website is for real.
meaning they would've had to get a FAKE reporter and interview a FAKE member of the FAKE University of Missouri Board of Curators who refuses to discuss this FAKE story about conference expansion
You want a reporter? I can get you a reporter, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me. Hell, I can get you a reporter by 3 o'clock this afternoon... with nail polish. These fucking amateurs...
could you please keep your voice down? this is a family blog
For your information, the Supreme Court has roundly rejected prior restraint.
i was only doing the waitress' line...
that's his response to the waitress
we needed a The Dude!
I'm staying, I'm finishing my coffee
Love the Big Lebowski references man! I am watching that movie as I read this blog :)
The University of Missouri is a fake university.
Orange Bloods and Houston radio are saying it according to posters on a previous thread where this was linked.
I'm pretty sure that this is an actual website for channel 5 in Kansas City. Where is this confirmation?
Where has it been confirmed that this site is fake? Sources?
probably fake authorities
you mean i can't click to that slideshow about "Furry Faces at the World Beard Championships" at the homepage?
WHY MUST THE INTERNET BE SO CRUEL???!?!
This website is very much legit. I also just watched the news on my television, and my eyes didn't lie as I watched them do an entire report on it (with more to come later).
It'd be one hell of an elaborate hoax because it isn't. It's a CBS affiliate in Kansas City. They've also been reporting from Columbia, MO (Mizzou) where panic is ensuing.
Conference USA with Iowa St and Kansas St?
It was just on Rivals Radio on Sirius too, with OK and OK St. going to the SEC.
That's just creepy.
QUAD! START THE REACTOR, QUAD!
"Quaid", not "Quad".
Total Recall remake is in the works........
However, I just got home from a stinking trade show and I'm completely confused about which universities are saying that to which conferences.
What no picture of the three breasted beauty?
You know one of them was paper-mâché, right?
Two of them were real.
Good response. Also "Oh, jeez, can I change my answer? Of course I know it's paper! I don't care! What's wrong with you?" would have been perfectly acceptable.
Two out of three ain't bad...
umm, thanks meatload!
i like this scenario if it is true.
leave two spots left for ND and ?
unfortunately it is likely another attempt by a media source to gain exposure, especially since they aren't naming any names.
But, i'd be a happy Winnebago....
Ship 'em off to the P10 with that other Midwest school we don't want, MO. We can stick at 14 if we have TX and NE.
Well, if the other reports are true, then ND and Mizzou.
The Big 10 is going to very tough ... I would expect ND to jump in here with Neb giving us 16 teams and doesn't give us 6 of the top 10 all time in wins?Holy Jeebus rumors are flying around like crazy.
How crazy would it be to have a schedule with Texas, Penn St, ND, Nebraska and Wisky and Iowa on it plus OSU and Lil bro? Oh and throw in Texas AM as well....MAN
If this were to happen, I wonder if the Big Ten would change their perspective on a cfb playoff. A conference like this would be an absolute meatgrinder, and it's hard to imagine a team going through unscathed.
If this were to happen, they should just crown the Big Ten champ as the National Champ. Same difference at that point.
This is still on the front page.
I don't like it and hope it's not true. Call me old fashioned but at least Nebraska, Missouri, Pitt, and ND have relative geographic and other ties the Big 10. Let the Pac-10 deal with the travel costs and other planning issues of a 16 team conference that is so spread out.
I don't want UT! yes, they are a huge power and big market but they wine and complain until they get there way, because of them they broke up the OU vs.NE rivalry.
I like wine.
NIce I just deleted a thread because it was already posted. Its even on the main page. Not that hard to find.
Get us playing in Texas and we will recruit better than we are now. Texas should be scare of having Big ten schools roaming around They will also have a hard time playing up north late in the season.
beautiful, my friends
KU also only has 6 men's and 10 women's varsity sports. Not exactly an athletic powerhouse.
I'd say the Kansas basketball program would bring more to the big ten then the missouri football program would.
That and i don't see kansas leaving kstate, even if we had the choice we'd probably have to take missouri to be able to fit in everyone else.
Doesn’t Colorado have better academics than Nebraska?
The story from my friends in Oklahoma is the big red “N” stands for knowledge.
Nebraska has a better football tradition but I would rather have Colorado and/or Syracuse and/or Pitt.
The Big Ten does not need ND. Another missed opportunity for ND to join the Big Ten but as long as Michigan plays them in football every year (it is a great rivalry) then I do not care if ND is part of the Big Ten or not.
If Delaney really wants ND, all the Big Ten has to do is pick his Big East partners wisely (Syracuse and/or Pitt) and watch the Big East implode. I’m sure ND would help the BTN get more eyeballs in New York. Long term, that is what this is all about.
Interesting if true. I already looked at the scenario in
but Oklahoma leaving for the SEC would change things a bit. I still think that the Big 12 can continue to exist in that situation by annexing another school (probably Mountain West), thereby eliminating the "Tech" problem. So, this rumor could very much come true, if still a work in progress.
The Sooners recruit California well. I think they could pull more top guys if they are playing 2-3 times a year.
Depending on how many teams the Pac-10 adds and how the divisions shape up, OU might not play in California very often. The scenario that everyone was talking about with the big 12 south (substitute baylor for colorado) moving to the pac-10 wouldn't have OU playing in California that much.
The talk was one division would be the Pac-8 schools and the other division would be the arizona's, texas schools, oklahoma's and colorado. With 7 division games, you would only be playing one or two teams in the other division every year depending on whether you play 8 or 9 conference games. If they only play 8 division games and you do home and home with the team in the opposite division, you'd only be playing in California 4 times over the course of 16 years.
Now there are just ridiculous rumors and conjecture mixed up as news. Talk of A&M splitting ways. Potential VaTech + A&M ---> SEC heating up.
Big Ten. I take back my complaints about Rutgers. There is no way the Aggies will be in the B10.
Also, Texas will never give up the OU game, it is one of the top 3 rivalries in the nation.
That's why out of conference games exist.
In the days of the Big 8 and SWC, OU-Texas was a non-conference game.
Little brother used to be called the Aggies...oh well, maybe that will be a contrived rivalry for them now too!
What's your problem with the aggies
I didn't think it was possible for things to ever get weirder in the daily speculation department than they were in December '07, but this may take the cake. How can the situation be changing this much from day to day?
They recently updated it with a video and I just sort of laughed for a few reasons: The reporter says "I know as much as the curators, which isn't much!" and then goes on to say UT/A&M to the Big Ten isn't very reassuring.
Also, the one guy says he won't quote on the "Big 12 Expansion." Is he joking? Your conference is imploding, not expanding.
Chip Brown says they haven't had any real major talk with the B10. Not likely. If it does happen, it wouldn't be very soon.
Chip Brown said Nebraska wasn't leaving either.
No one from Nebraska has said they are either.
What if it's Texas and Oklahoma instead of Texas and Texas A&M? OU's supposed rejection of the SEC has me wondering, especially with Texas A&M's desire to be there. Oklahoma obviously has been off the radar as far as academics have been concerned. My mind is left wandering. Is the OU problem bigger than the Tech problem?
Won't the Texas legislature get involved if they are split up?
it will be completely confirmed that Delany is a Magician-Wizard-Cyborg.
The only thing that would be a bigger power grab would be to slip ND in for Nebraska.
ESPN is going to shit themselves if this goes down.
If we have Nebraska and get Texas and A&M, why not add a Big East team and force ND's hand.
Do any of the Big East schools really jump off the page at you as must takes? Or even kinda nice? I'll take ND, but I don't want Rutgers or Syracuse.
Not really, but to be honest, it's worth a Rutgers. Syracuse, or Pitt to grab Notre Dame and watch their independence die. West Virginia would be fun if the academics were up to snuff.
"grab Notre Dame and watch their independence die."
Heh. +1 for you sir.
ESPN just said that Texas and Texas A&M are going to the Pac 10. ESPN Radio just said they were headed to the Big 10. This saga is really fun to watch unfold.
My favorite summer meal. Welcome Texas and Nebraska.
The Waco Tribune reports that Mack Brown doesn't want to break up the Big 12, and A&M doesn't either but wouldn't want to go to the Pac 10 anyways, so it seems they either stay in the Big 12, or if they are going to switch conferences maybe they would consider the Big 10.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I find myself not really giving a rat's patoot about all these expansion rumors. I'm ignoring most of these threads on here, because they're all just rumors and nobody knows what the hell is going on.
I can't wait until there's something concrete.
