Nebraska is a paper tiger right now. I don't think they have the depth or offensive playmakers to contend for a Big 10 title. Plus, Taylor Martinez seems overrated. That doesn't mean they won't be good, just not excellent. People thought Penn State was going to dominate the Big 10 when they entered too.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:38 PM ^
Although Penn State started out pretty well. 12-0 in 1994 and beat Michigan 3 out of the first 4 times.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:24 PM ^
anything on TV but there have been torrential downpours all day here in Houston. If it keeps up those folks at Reliant are going to have real fun time getting out and back to their hotels.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:27 PM ^
So maybe the only B1G team to lose to a Big 12 team will be Nebraska?
December 29th, 2010 at 7:28 PM ^
COME ON BIG TEN!! Keep that score going up!! Lets all hope n pray the rest of the games go just as well!!
December 29th, 2010 at 7:28 PM ^
Time keeps on ticking.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:29 PM ^
But that was at least a good game. Today's bowls have blown.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:32 PM ^
Well we got one more. OK St and Arizona. I originally thought OK St would run away with it, but my knack of picking losers in the pool and the Big 12 performance so far may make it a better game with a decent Arizona defense.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:39 PM ^
Down 10-7 in the third quarter.
Oops, there he went. Missed tackle on the out, and 70 yars later it's 14-10 Bucks.
Actually, it was a deep post. Then Springs hits the returner out of bounds. John Belisari was another Buckeye on that team. And Vrabel.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:34 PM ^
drive by the Zookers.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:37 PM ^
Someone get Reese Bobby a Ricola.
December 29th, 2010 at 7:40 PM ^
Nice first half for Illinois. I took them at +1, but believe it or not this afternoon the line moved all the way to Illinois -2.5. Wow
This game is a long way from over. I say it like a brokeb record, but bowl games are like NBA regular season games in many ways. For one, every team makes a run. We'll see what Baylor does in the second half
December 29th, 2010 at 7:41 PM ^
It is the Zooker. This could end up 17-16.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:03 PM ^
Illini OL is just blowing up Baylor
December 29th, 2010 at 8:04 PM ^
are playing better D than Baylor.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:09 PM ^
All week on the radio here it was Big12 this, Big12 that blah, blah, blah. Baylor was gonna roll Illinois etc. Now there is a chance Zook may blow it....
December 29th, 2010 at 8:13 PM ^
It wasn't pretty. The Illini look like they might be getting tired on D, which is weird since the Bears didn't exactly run a lot of offensive plays before that drive.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:15 PM ^
Fireworks are about to ensue on the BTN. Pepe Pierson gains 50 yards for the Bucks.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:18 PM ^
Just turned the game on. 24-7 Illinois? Wow. The Big 12 really sucks.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:23 PM ^
This game is turning
December 29th, 2010 at 8:35 PM ^
I think it's going to be too little, too late.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:35 PM ^
December 29th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
Baylor is making the Fightin' Zookers seem like a disciplined outfit. That's not good, fyi.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:44 PM ^
Michigan put up 67 points on this defense?
Is our offense that good, is Baylor that overrated, is the Big XII that bad, or does Baylor just not give a shit?
EDIT: And of course as soon as I say that, Baylor scores.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:54 PM ^
To be fair, 45 in regulation.
December 29th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
But my question remains.
December 29th, 2010 at 9:12 PM ^
December 29th, 2010 at 10:08 PM ^
What is the answer to "Is our offense that good, is Baylor that overrated, is the Big XII that bad, or does Baylor just not give a shit?"
December 29th, 2010 at 8:44 PM ^
Good grief.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:55 PM ^
Left the game at half time. Spent 6 hours in the POURING Texas rain and I'm 99% sure I'll be dead sick tomorrow. Lots of Illini fans in the parking lots while I worked. Plenty of "Muck Fichigan - Ann Arbor is a Whore" shirts as well. Had a great time making fun of them, especially since the guys wearing them all went to Western.
Too bad the weather absolutely sucked.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
Gotta love the Zook playcalling with 12 minutes left in the game.
I have a feeling that we will see at least two more touchdowns before the end of this. Unless Baylor runs the ball.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:59 PM ^
Then they tried to go for 2 before missing the extra point. The kicked XP would have given them a 4 point lead. What a maroon Cooper is. "Confusion on the sidelines," reports Jack Arute.
December 29th, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
And the good old days.
December 29th, 2010 at 8:59 PM ^
I picked Illinois to win this. If they pull it off my B1G bowl picks improve to 1-1 on the season.
Come on you Illini!
December 29th, 2010 at 9:08 PM ^
Chris Spielman just said that he thinks that Tressel will suspend TP and crew? It will be interesting to see what happens.
December 29th, 2010 at 9:09 PM ^
Game, Zook.
December 29th, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
Helps Rich Rod's resume substantially.
December 29th, 2010 at 10:14 PM ^
I just got a mental image of Brandon with a notepad sitting in front of his hotel Suite tv down in Jacksonville watching the Texas Bowl intently.
December 29th, 2010 at 10:20 PM ^
I wouldn't be intently watching football.
December 29th, 2010 at 9:25 PM ^
Zook skipping around after getting drenched was pretty cute, not gonna lie.
December 29th, 2010 at 9:30 PM ^
Everyone to the Alamo Bowl Open Thread...
December 29th, 2010 at 10:07 PM ^
for all those that downplayed Illinois after Michigan beat them (after having claimed that top ranked defense would the UM offense down); will they now say Illinois has a good defense again, or that Baylor was simply that bad on offense?
December 29th, 2010 at 10:12 PM ^
The B12 isn't looking so good so far. And Illinois is still 7-6. Deep breaths.
December 29th, 2010 at 10:14 PM ^
But it's still a team that was averaging around 30 pts/game.
December 29th, 2010 at 10:21 PM ^
the Big 12!
December 30th, 2010 at 12:31 AM ^
I say keep Rodriguez absolutely. At that point, he lost to three highly ranked schools with one loss, a fourth that was a LOT better than theirt 7-5 record, and a fifth that, had they been starting the right quaterback all year, who knows what would've happened.
On that note, I love watching Big Ten ball. Man, watching the Military Bowl earlier, I had to keep reminding myself that they weren't moving at half speed. That was really all the better they were. WHich is extremely sad, since the MAC bowls have had more athletic plays.
