Tennessee Titans sign UM All-American wrestler Adam Coon as OL

The title says it all. Adam Coon, who was a 3x All-American heavyweight wrestler at Michigan from 2013-18, has been signed to the Titans roster and will compete for a spot as an offensive lineman. He was an All-State lineman and linebacker in high school but did not play football at UM.
I think it's cool to see this. We've seen players like Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham succeed in the NFL with little or no CFB experience, and he's certainly got the prototypical body type for the role. Good luck Adam!
Where were ya on that one, Jim?!

The greatest indictment of Harbaugh is how many guys have enrolled at Michigan only to go on to NFL success—without ever taking the field in maize and blue in-between
EDIT: This is obviously a joke and I’m dying at how many of you thought I was serious
Coon was an elite all american wrestler and chose wrestling. I doubt he would have been able to do both. Football would have made him gain weight and wreck his wrestling. Don't blame Harbaugh.
It is incredible to me how many people couldn’t tell I was making a joke lmao. Hope you’re all having a great weekend
Has that happened a lot? And I don't think we can say Coon has "NFL success" just yet. I'd be shocked if he ever makes a roster.
Harbaugh Derangement Syndrome is an incurable disease
The "/s" is not needed here.
Why?
Strange this hasn't happened before. Wrestlers know all about leverage. Pad level, baby!
it has happened before. Stephen Neal was a NCAA champion wrestler (beat Lesnar in the finals) who played for NE and never played college ball. Lesnar also got a tryout with Minnesota at DL but didn't make the team.
Odds are against Coon but doesn't hurt to try.
Especially Greco Roman wrestlers which is Coon's specialty
Wooooooo!!!!!
Well hey, it worked for the Washington Sentinels when they signed a sumo wrestler to the OL. It could work for the Titans!
Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory lasts forever.
Carlton Haselrig was a six (!!!) time NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown and was drafted by the Steelers in the 12th round of the 1989 NFL draft despite not having played football in college.
He made the Pro Bowl as the Steelers' starting right guard in 1992.
Not only would it be cool to make it as a pro lineman, he also graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering. Let’s have an all Michigan mission to Mars. Adam, Noah Furbush, and Meghan Beaubien (softballer as your payload engineer).
Good luck Adam, hope you make it with the Titans.?
Guys! How insufferable are we all gonna be if this guy makes a pro bowl and never suited up at Michigan? These boards will show us how much further we can devolve into BPONE with more Maizens and Section Ones than ever.
I'm pretty sure we're all going to be insufferable regardless of his career trajectory.
I know I am!
He's definitely got a chance, despite not playing football in so long.
This is cool. Wish he played for us but probably couldn't play both sports.
At 6'5 and 300 he certainly has the size, but I can't imagine he's got the skills to block at the NFL after not playing for so many years, right?
He’s big and strong with great feet, hand strength, and body control. He has much to work with.
