Done with Lewan.  Good luck to him in the pros.

What can you say anymore?  Too many issues, and anyone who knows people on campus still knows there were other incidents that never hit the press.  He's a little immature and got into some trouble, hopefully he grows up and makes us proud from here on out because it's certainly been difficult to root for him at times.

I saw Lewan at the Brown jug a few times last year while I was still in school.  He is everybit the outgoing, party-animal type he appears to be.  I was at the Jug with my gf and some friends in the Spring of 2013, when he and Gibbons and some other bros rolled in for wednesday night karaoke.  While not a menace, he is kind a wild man and likes to get after it.  I get a sense he lacks some self control.  He almost backed right over my 110 lb girfriend who was standing behind him at the bar as he grabbed drinks and swung around in the crowded bar.  This was partially because he is 6'8 315+ and she is 5'3 obviously, and to his credit he sensed that he almost flattened someone and he turned around and said "Im very sorry" to both of us.  But I get the sense he is the kind of guy who takes full advantage of: 1) his status as an elite college football player, 2)  always being the biggest most powerful guy in the room, as if he is impervious to other people or consequences.

Next year, we get some annoying MGo posters to go to the bar in Columbus after the OSU game and annoy players (and ideally coaches) in the hope of getting punched. This will work, win or lose. Common MGo users, take one for the team.

I think my disappointment is that TL put himself close to some sketchy situations along the way....I was really worried the "reports of bar activity" last fall were going to end badly, thankfully this did not happen.  Not trying to take away the fun from college as I had my fair share but when everyone knows who you are primarily because you are 6'8" x 310# I would say some additional cautions might be needed.

Hopefully this can end without a major media blowup for all involved.

The guy wont ever be "done" with Michigan. He is a graduate from Michigan he came back to try and help the team. The sad part is if he led Michigan to a Title of any form we wouldn't be actling like this. Trashing a young man because of a few mistakes. Saying he's a douchebag. Have you met the guy? Stop judging, I'm not saying anything he did that night was right but, while your throwing him under the bus right now. People were begging for him to come back last year and save our o-line, he did and tried. All while giving up millions in the process. You weren't there that night you weren't him. If he's gulity big freakin deal. He roughed a few dudes up oh well. If this weren't starting LT All-American First round Draft Pick Taylor Lewan this would be just another bar fight. Life goes on, he will pay his dues more than any other nomral citizen would.

Another Bo era story:

The starting middle guard for the last half of the 1980 season (the D that didn't give up a TD for like the last 5 games) was Jeff (Sugarbear) Shaw, a freshman, same year as me, lived on the same floor as me in South Quad.

1981 comes around and he's nowhere to be found and a bunch of us are asking, "Whatever happened to Sugarbear??"  The best/only rumor we heard was that Bo kicked him off the team because he got caught taking a squirt outside Dooley's.

I've tried Googling it a bunch of times to take advantage of modern information gathering methods, with no luck.

Nice job from a PR perspective getting this released on the first day of March Madness

This and the whole Gibbons thing are both ugly for the Michigan football team’s image.  Hopefully everyone can keep their nose clean this year as more incidents will not be helpful to Hoke’s efforts to remain the coach. (fair or not, probably not, but the press makes this stuff build on itself and it can quickly get out of control from an image perspective) Another high profile arrest and all hell will break loose.

We really need to win some damn games next year

Can come from this.

The best case is dismissal or an acquittal.  It's hard to consider that good except as compared to the alternatives.

There are probably a lot of UM Law grads that would love to represent him.
