Tate - The most impressive freshman ever?

Submitted by weasel3216 on
I know it may be too early to tell but. In my opinion, a short 21 year opinion, Tate is the most impressive Freshman i have ever seen at Michigan. He has the most impressive and collective skills and talent i have ever seen from a Freshman. I have not been a critical my whole life, obviously because you are not critical until typically late teens, but the only other Freshman that i can compare him to is Henne. Both were and are extremely impressive in their Freshman years. But i think Tate's leadership abilities is what really sets him apart. The fact that he took full responsibility for this past weekends lost is what really set him on top, for me. Just curious to see what others thought as to who is the best Freshman ever at Michigan.

You're right, I screwed that up. But, again, the point was about beating OSU freshman year. No one in the discussion pulled that rabbit so to impose it on Tate is unnecessary. Besides, Henne didn't beat Ohio State any year so home/away is still irrelevant when comparing Forcier to Henne.

Fate had it that Tate would come to Michigan. He surely is impressive but it's sad that a Freshman is the true leader of this team when there are Seniors who should be leading. Coach Rod still has a lot of work ahead of him in remolding this team in his image and purging the mold that LC left behind, imho.

But I will say that he is the most EXCITING freshman we have ever seen at Michigan. If he continues to have the season he is having, and manages to stay healthy, then maybe, at the end of the season, we can start talking about him being the best. If he pulls some Forcier magic and beats OSU with a last minute TD then I will say he is the best.

Its one thing to come in and dominate at RB or WR like Mike and Mario, but to come in at QB and lead the team the way he does, reading defense's and making plays-especially when the protection breaks down, and oh yeah, the comebacks. I know were only five games in, but he's just that impressive.

....so far. If Forcier beats OSU and gets one other upset against PSU or Iowa, then I would give him the nod over Leach. I'm just happy that we're even having this discussion after the preseason doubts that so many had.

He's probably the clutchest QB I've seen, and Michigan has a tendency to win games in the clutch (with experienced teams). If this is how we are now, with a very young and inexperienced team, imagine what we'll be like in 2011.
