What about the other players? Were they excited? Relieved? That news about Tate sucks but I need something positive after all this. I mean, really.

I saw in twitter that the players stood up and cheered when Hoke was announced as the new coach.

All the players I follow on there had positive things to say, Kelvin Grady also said EVERYONE is staying on a post (fwiw)

Thank you both! I'll take anything I can get at this point.

I'm very glad to hear they are supportive. I'm also glad to hear that Denard is staying, for now at least.
It will be interesting to see how the coordinator positions pan out and if DB shells out the cash.

I just hope that includes him. The smartest thing Hoke can do is tweak his offense so that it makes Denard comfortable. Show us he's about making everyone better and not alienating all of our spread players.

That shows incredible team balance, but seems a bit dangerous.

He's not able to until he's eligible, no?
January 11th, 2011 at 7:44 PM ^
...Tate isn't enrolled for this term.
January 11th, 2011 at 7:47 PM ^
This is really the least of my worries today.
On a more informative note- I do remember Tate being pissed that his local school SDSU didn't recruit him hard
January 12th, 2011 at 4:20 AM ^
Since he committed and enrolled early here, his lack of recruitment by SDSU would have been on Hoke's predecessor's watch. And, really, what was Hoke going to do, poach a Michigan recruit?

Honestly Tate can leave, it's his fault for failing and not being able to play in the bowl game. Let him transfer to a college that's easy for him academically. Sorry Tate but you gotta be a man and grow some balls sometimes.

Once should be sufficient.

I don't know all the details but if he was academically ineligible because he had difficulty with a class that's unfortunate but acceptable. If he just flat gave up because he planned to leave well that's a different story.

Tate is going to transfer.

Once the Free Press ran that article about his ineligibility for the Gator Bowl, he sort of fell off the face of the Earth. I guess that, to me, that wasn't a good sign, even if he said in his own interview just days before that he was trying to improve the academic side of things....I bet his future as a Wolverine is brief at this point
