that Sarniak was "mistakenly" provided free lodging. How does that happen? I've worked at a hotel and a customer was never mistakenly not charged, if anything they were mistakenly overcharged. The only people that never paid were those who left before paying, and that was pretty rare.
I think the point is that OSU "mistakenly" paid for his lodging, not that the hotel forgot to charge anyone for the room.
I guess all Pryor needed was a little hug.
as to how the NCAA could conclude that the benefits that Pryor got from Sarniak, someone who did not qualify as having a prior relationship with Pryor, did not deserve the same punishment they handed out to Jamaal Crawford at Michigan.
OSU might get off lightly this Aug but the dark cloud of corruption will hang over their program for years to come. They WILL eventually get theirs. And we'll enjoy plucking top-tier OH talent from them while eating popcorn watching the Muppets.
You could have written the same thing 8 or 9 years ago when all the Clarett nonsense was going down. Hasn't slowed them down since. I'm not holding my breath waiting for the NCAA to do anything that makes sense.
What does this add to any current case versus OSU? Nothing, as far as I can see. I don't like Sarniak, or Pryor, any more than you fellows do. But I don't see what this adds to the OSU story. If anybody bothers to read the FOIA'ed documents and wishes to add to the picture, be my guest. I'll rest easy knowing that the Associated Press is on the case.

Not the NCAA. They keep looking for reasons to let TSIO off the hook despite the overwhelming evidence of lack of institutional control and failure to create an atmosphere of compliance. Sorry, ignorance is no excuse for breaking the rules - especially for a university with a huge athletic budget.

Seriously - these guys know how to keep things under wraps. I believe I read that Pryor's mother actually bought a car from the same dealership supplying the team with cars. Looks fishy, yes - but all the dealer need do is charge her fair invoice for the vehicle. Now - where she got the money from may be a different story, but the invoice would show list price. I may be wrong, but I do not think the NCAA can take a peek at her bank account.
Honestly how dirty is college football? I mean I'm sure there are some streching of the rules of the minor sort going on just about everywhere, but this is silly.
It's as if the NCAA just said "dont provide money, cell phones, etc." anymore or else we'll be forced to send a you another strongly worded letter!
The NCAA has to start cracking down on this stuff or NCAA football will be tainted forever.

They provided the NCAA with a summary of the secondary violations they've been found to have committed. This was in that summary and thus can be assumed to have been determined to be a secondary violation, which would answer the question implied in the first part of the sentence.
If they had just now made their initial report, how could the NCAA have investigated it three years ago?
