"Superman" projected to go 5th overall by SI
In the first SI in-season mock draft, not only is Jabrill Peppers projected 5th overall to Jacksonville, but his position is listed as "S/LB/SUPERMAN"....

Any guesses on the over/under for him staying one more year? Hopefully he pulls a "Lewan" and decides to hang around.

also, you can keep that shit to yourself!

That is what the insurance policies are for. Winston got a 7 figure policy and Lewan did too. I'm sure if Peppers comes back to UM for 2017 he will have one.

Winston's insurance policy was roughly half of his signing bonus.
September 27th, 2016 at 1:19 PM ^
Exactly: Half of $16.7 million pales in comparison to $16.7 million

Except for the fact that if the insurance policy is actually taken out, you sustained a pretty serious physical beating already...
September 28th, 2016 at 1:19 PM ^
Winstons policy was based on a projection that he'd be a top 10 draft pick and would have paid out if he slipped out of the first round.

The insurance policies are to protect you if an injury keeps you out of the first round, at least Winston's was.
The chances of a career ending injury are very low. The chances of a nagging injury that could lower his draft stock is low too. So I don't think it is a major risk if he comes back. However with the new CBA it benefits him to start his NFL career sooner so that he can get out of his rookie contract sooner.

He is clearly too short for the NFL.
September 27th, 2016 at 2:44 PM ^
He can't leave till we beat OSU and MSU
September 27th, 2016 at 11:31 AM ^
I'd take a flyer on +2000 probably that he plays another snap at Michigan after this season.

I think that probably depends on if he graduates this year or not. I recall he tweeted out that he wasn't leaving until he got his degree. Now it is possible he can get it at the conclusion of the spring 2017 semester if he took the following course load. That would be at the end of June 2017.
Summer 2014 6
Fall 2014 12
Winter 2015 16

I would be very surprised to learn that football players take the bulk of their classes in the fall. Wouldn't that be backwards?
September 27th, 2016 at 12:15 PM ^
I could be wrong, but (a) 12 credit hours in the fall & 12 more in the winter is the cutoff for being a "full time" student as an undergrad at Michigan, and (b) a player must be a full time student to maintain NCAA eligibility.
September 27th, 2016 at 12:31 PM ^
You have to be a full time enrolled student to compete. That is 12 credits in the fall. Then with 16 credits in the winter and 6 each in summer and spring that gets you to 30 credits in a calendear year. So you could foreseeably graduate in 3 calendar years if you took that class load. I have no idea if peppers did or not, but it is possible could graduate by late june 2017. Which would be 2 months after the draft so who knows
September 27th, 2016 at 1:18 PM ^
and it sounds like he is smart enough to do this, however, I have a feeling it won't happen. I know there is a limit to how many of your final classes can be off campus. It'd be cool if he could still finish somehow.
September 27th, 2016 at 2:46 PM ^
ya i doubt he will considering he couldn't enroll early
September 27th, 2016 at 4:14 PM ^
Agreed. I seem to recall him saying that early on, as well. I have a feeling that he's shared a different thought with JH since then, however, as Harbaugh has said on more than one occasion that Jabrill is already an NFL-ready athlete, or words to that effect. Would love to see him stay, but it's probably very long odds that he stays.

We need to train a pack of dogs to regularly eat his homework. It's for the good of the team.
September 27th, 2016 at 1:43 PM ^
...unless M wins the NC. IMHO of course.
September 27th, 2016 at 2:40 PM ^
I don't think "Pulling a Lewan" means anything good at this point.
September 28th, 2016 at 10:30 AM ^
It's not really an "over/under" proposition, but the answer is, "he's gone." At fifth overall or third overall as CBS had him a week or two ago, he would sign a contract for around $15 million guaranteeed and a total of around $25-30 million for his entire rookie contract.
If he wanted to come back, Harbaugh would be the first to tell him to leave and take the money.

I thought all the draft "experts" had Deshaun Watson as the #1 QB for this next draft.

The dude is huge, he's an above average athlete for his size, he has a quick release and a cannon arm.

September 27th, 2016 at 12:19 PM ^
To me, he looks the least like a QB "project," so it depends on the needs of the team, but if you're drafting a QB high to start year one, I could totally see him being the first QB drafted. Skill and build-wise, he looks pretty NFL plug-and-play ready.

He's too short for the NFL. He needs at least 1 or probably 2 more years in college to finish growing.
