Was that supposed to be ironic and funny?

Maybe I'm too far down the "it's just sports" road here, but Adele and melodrama for a week four regular season game with tight face closeups and draaaama.... doesn't really do anything other than make me kind of laugh at the overplay.

Don't get me wrong. Huge Tom fan, obviously. I appreciate the "importance" in context to other regular season games. I'll watch the game.

I don't plan on having a spare handkerchief on hand for any tears I might shed however.

It reminds me of this:

Well there is a little extra significance since he’ll also be breaking the all time passing yards record there as well…on his first time back in Gillette, after winning 6 titles there…so yeah, I’d say it’s more than another week 4 game, even if the patriots do suck.

I enjoyed Adele until I had the misfortune of watching a clip where they interviewed her ex, the guy she wrote all these songs about. Sweet fancy Moses, what a loser in almost every way an adult human male can be a loser. Physically. Emotionally, Intellectually.

I just couldn't take her songs seriously after that. You wrote those wailing songs about that guy? You had trouble getting over that guy? For realz?

I just might actually watch this game. He's an all-time favorite athlete of mine. I just hope there isn't too much negativity from NE fans. I don't expect a ton, but sometimes the worst voices are the loudest.

Is this tearing the mask off? Boil down all the posturing, bellowing, headbutting, obscenities, boasts of wearing the jock, and it's really all emo feelings?

Obviously same here too (I posted it) but apparently the board this morning is more heavily populated by manly-men who think this sort of sentimental stuff is for the sissy-boys.

Still trying to wrap my head around "gay as a tangerine".

I wouldn't go that far as I love a good hype video but I'm not sure I thought this was necessarily amazing...

I'm happy for Brady to own this spotlight and his continued love for Michigan is pretty awesome as the GOAT. I mean what better ambassador could you have asked for?

That said, I always felt there was a very irrational love for the Pats as whole from the board because of Brady. I get rooting for TB to do well means that you root for his team has to do well by relativity but if he never landed with that team, nobody would've ever rooted for them outside of Boston/NE US.

Nope. You're right on both points.

To call that video "amazing" is amazing to me. There's a lot of fish in this here video content sea, and that one isn't a good one. Now will I go so far as to slap a big ole toxic masculinity slur on top of it all?  Nope. That's definitely a fruit too far.

That said, it's just a super laughable 30 seconds of closeups of Tom Brady's face, cut to Belichick's face, soundtracked with a super sappy Adele song.

Some social producer could have put a shitty Limp Bizkit song behind it, I'm still going to watch the game.

As for our collective Patriot's fandom. Yes, it was directly tied to Brady. I still like Uche and Chase there, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't now a wayyy bigger Bucs fan than I was five seconds before he signed with the Bucs.

I think part of it goes along with his GOAT status. Part of it is so many of us were born into Lions fandom which allows for sports bigotry. I'm a casual NFL guy, I like Redzone. I'm a simple man. I have simple tastes. I like good videos. I like Michigan. I root for Michigan players when they're at Michigan, and after they leave.

To each their own, but nothing about this hype video is "amazing." The over-the-top dramatic use of Adele makes me not want to tune-in to even a second of the pregame nonsense. I want to watch a football game, not a damn soap opera. The ginned-up drama isn't necessary, at least for real sports fans. Brady/The GOAT returns to New England. Full stop. No additional fluff required.

Maybe the video's target audience is casual fans looking for a 15-minute replacement for their reality show du jour?

Patriots are still playing?! This is what my wife predicted would happen to my "Patriots love".

As soon as TB12 left town, I am now a Bucs fan :D

Thanks for posting this. Interesting take.

Enjoyed the video. Love Tom, love Adele. My only question, for the New England haters:  are you a fan of the loser Jets? The Bills? The Giants? The Ravens? The Washington whatevers?

I'd love to see Tampa and Tom put up a ton of points on the Pats. And I'm sure the Bucs will be hungry after their debacle against the Rams. (Are the Rams really that good?)
