Spotlight on RG Kyle Kalis

"Kyle, a senior who was a five-star recruit at St. Edward High in Lakewood, Ohio, has graded out high in every game for the Wolverines.

After the third game of the season with UNLV, Harbaugh said, "The offensive line is getting better, and probably the guy who made the biggest jump was Kyle Kalis. He graded out for the ballgame at a little above 90 percent. Along with (center) Graham Glasgow, who has been consistently very good; he's been our best. But Kalis is ascending fast, and it was great to see that."

After the fourth game on Saturday (Sept. 26), a 31-0 win over then-No. 22 Brigham Young, Harbaugh added this on Kalis: "Better, better, better. He's really on his assignments. He's playing with a better and better pad level, making the right fits, and he's done good."

It's gotta feel really good to these guys now that things are clicking. They've all worked so hard. They took a lot of criticism early on and it's good to see them succeed.

I've been following Kyle's time at UM and have always felt prior to this year, he had excellent potential. I recall the mediocre play and stupid penalties from the prior years, but has now progressed to a point where he is performing like he's supposed to be. We all know why...Harbaugh, Drevno, new attitude. It's beyond awesome to see these players be coached up like they're supposed to be and to excel.

It's not that you're wrong, but if this year has taught us anything it's that you can't judge a person's performance or capability until you know they've had good leadership, mentorship, and development. Even more so when we're talking about 18-23 year olds.

Hopefully, all of our bosses give us the same acknowledgement.

I was starting to think it was never going to click for him.  I'm thrilled and look forward to two strong years from him.  I believe after he signed with us he said "there will be blood on the field".  That was in reference to playing the buckeyes.  I hope he does it.

I'm really excited to see how this group can continue to improve through the course of the season and even into next season.  I'm particularly interested to see how they match up against quality d-lines like the state schools on the schedule.  Although Glasgow has been our best and we lose him next year, you'd still think it would be a better group with another year under their belt and under this coaching staff.
