Spencer Boyd to announce on Friday

Submitted by MH20 on
($) Spencer Boyd is set to announce his college decision on Friday. I haven't heard much from him in a while, and I thought the last I had heard he was a Notre Dame guy, but anyways:
"It's down to Michigan, Notre Dame and Georgia and I will make my decision on Friday," Boyd said.
So maybe this is pointless but I guess we'll see on Friday. Boyd is the #27 rated CB according to Rivals; he's #29 to Scout.

thanks and your exactly right, Georgia was looking to be big competition for any other school but they have recently picked up 3 CB/S types and are in a favorable position to land a couple more. Plus he didn't make a recently scheduled visit to UGA and ND has since gained the commitment of Lo Wood one of his closer friends. So that is where the ND lean is coming from, but ND has been surprised before and its not even close to February yet. :)

There are a lot of CB's we're going after harder than Boyd. I doubt he signs with us, and I don't think I'd want him to if it meant we missed out on the other guys we're targeting.

I think probably McKnight, but it would be a tough call. The services seem to like Mathis better, but McKnight could also play safety for us if he needed to, and I'm not a huge fan of the midget style corners. I like Booboo, but I'd rather have a guy with a couple more inches. That said, I wouldn't be upset with either one.

Ha, nice. The guy I was responding to said McKnight and I rolled with it. I'm pretty laid back like that (I didn't want to make him feel bad by correcting him). Brian McKnight, great memories of high school slow dances...

Another 3-star but a lot of people are pretty high on him. The similarities in Michigan and ND's recruiting are sort of interesting right now. Both fan bases are a bit concerned about all the 3 star types they're picking up. Not sure what elite recruits Michigan is still going after, but some top guys that ND should get are definitely waiting to see how the season starts.

http://www.news-press.com/article/20090715/HSS05/90715047/1011/SPORTS01 "Cape Coral’s Spencer Boyd will verbally commit Friday to play football at Notre Dame. Boyd’s father Scott said his son selected the Fighting Irish over Georgia and Michigan. “We’re all stoked,” Scott Boyd said. “We kind of wanted him to choose Notre Dame all along.” Boyd, who is projected to play cornerback at the collegiate level, had 23 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery for the Seahawks last season."
