Someone know something we don't about Tyler Shough?
I just popped over to http://michigan.247sports.com/ for a mid-day update and there were a ton of crystal ball predictions for his services to UNC. Sounds like he may be wavering a bit. Edit: Steve Wiltfong is even predicting it.
people like you are the reason no one likes this fanbase. A lot of you need to accept the fact that we are going to lose recruiting battles and the reason is not $$$.
nice campus, southern girls, but nasty BBQ. Don't like the vinegar...
Bite your tongue
Due to an athletics scandal. By any major publication's account UNC is on equal footing with Michigan as far as undergraduate studies go.
Actually, as a sidenote, I can speak from professional experience that there are a few industries out there - normally regulated ones - where you are indeed giving money as part of the sales pitch. You wouldn't think it would be possible perhaps, but it is, and usually its part of a "we'll make this work for us 5-10 years down the road" scheme.
You have a lot of money to give away?
I want people to give me money.
North Carolina Football = The Ceiling is the Roof!
I like this fan base. Anyone else?
You are mistaken, it is you who people don't like, not your Michigan fandom.
What else do a lot of us need to learn and/or accept, oh wise one?

So who do we target if he picks UNC?
I think we would eventually be okay with just Milton in the class, but we are trying to see if Justin Fields is interested. He followed Jay and Partridge on Twitter after decommitting from Penn State and already follows a group of Michigan commits.
Yeah he's in a good district in Kennesaw, he's a really good prospect. If I were him I would go to Auburn. It's closest to home, it's a perfect system for him, and he would immediately be the successor to Stidham. Plus he would give Alabama fits. Georgia and Florida would really screw up trying to use his mobility. As much as I would love Fields here, I would still be happy if he ended up at Auburn and not Penn State.
Based on what? JaMarcus Russell? EJ Manuel? Dameyune Craig? Rohan Davey? Jameis Winston was a 5-star no-brainer (insert joke here) that I think my uncle could develop to be an NFL starter. Jimbo might be fine, but I don't think he's in the same ballpark as Jim.
And Jimbo got him drafted in the 1st round - not that it went well in the NFL for him
His seat won't be warm after this year. They are winning the SEC East. They will get the 4th spot in the playoffs as 11-2 SEC Champions.
They play in the SEC West
lol yeah that's what I meant, but does it really matter? The conference is Alabama, generally one random team each year, and then garbage. This year it'll be Bama and Auburn and nobody will remember the rest.
Since when does 24-25 on the ACT qualify one as a "crazy good student"?!? Most people I know who I would categorize as "good students" got scores in the mid-high 20s; I'm not sure I'd bestow the "crazy" moniker on anything less than 30, maybe higher.
He will probably take it once more and there's a good chance that he hasn't spent a lot of time (especially not time with a tutor) studying for the ACT because of his football commitments. A lot of 30+ kids that get into the top level schools improved multiple points with a tutor and a lot of time spent on the test. If he sat down and took it once and got a 25 that's not bad. The 3.9 GPA is obviously more impressive. I don't think he's a dumb kid.
in no way am I trying to say this guy's a bad student. Far from it; as you say, 25 is a pretty good score. "Crazy good student" just seemed to be a mischaracterization to me. I know multiple people who got 32+ without lots of prep or tutors or whatever. They were crazy good students.
I was a crappy student and I scored over 30.
I think almost 10% of my graduating class (~25) scored 30+.
None of us had tutors or test prep.
Out of the top 25 QBs on 247's composite (Shough is #21) only 5 are uncommitted. And only 12 of the top 50. Given that its slim pickings out there, if they can't get Fields (extremely unlikely) I'd rather throw another scholarship at a developmental OL or DL player. Far more likely they'll have an impact than a flier on a low ranked QB.
I agree. If we could land Petit-Frere I would rather use Shough's scholly on Faalele.
Theo Day?
Vicious Vic
He's a big academic kid (Michigan, Cal, UNC finalists). He probably sees Michigan with a stacked QB depth chart, Joe Milton in the class, and sniffing around Justin Fields. I would not want to be the 2nd QB in Michigan's recruiting class right now if I had dreams of playing in my first few years. Plus, UNC just had their QB go 2nd overall in the draft.

Landing a second QB in this class was always going to be a tough sales pitch. Between Milton and the loaded depth chart in front of them...that's a tough sell to any top QB. Even with Harbaugh as your QB coach. At some point, you'd like to see the field, yaknow?
