This will be your opportunity to discuss the offense and the offensive playcalling.

Gorgeous Borges will be back next season. He called a great game today. You can say whatever you want about him, but no OC would have been any better the way the line played all year.

The line was not that much better today. They simply were not set up for failure like they were in previous games. When OSU blitzed Michigan still had problems. What changed was Borges, he used screen's which kept OSU from blitzing every play. Had he done this all year or at the very least after the MSU debacle, Michigan's record would show it.

At least 2 of the sacks were not on the OL/Fitz. They gave DG time most of the day, and only had 3-4 runs of doom. Funny how we had the longest run of the season that OSU gave up, and it was on a simple run where the blocking was decent and Smith broke one weak tackle attempt.

41 points is the most against Ohio State since 1946.

I think 603 yards might be the most against Ohio State ever.  Can anyone confirm? The '46 team had 511.

There doesn't seem to be a boxscore around for 1902. Fifteen touchdowns probably mean there were more than 600 yards, but who knows....

For DG. He has dramatically reduced his INTs. (Yes, there have been a number dropped recently). Today he seemed to make more reads, as all of those throws were not just the first option. He checked into a couple of successful plays.

Top 3 things to improve are still, how to throw the ball away vs the inside rush, not turning a 5-8 yard sack into a 15 yard loss, and not fumbling.

If those young receivers can become good next year, DG could really have a special year

Borges's fate was already sealed going into this game, I think. And I think he needs to move on. That said, he called an overall good game today. The throw-back screen on the last drive to get into the red zone was just a great, great call. Not sure about the two-point conversion call. And the first-down runs up the middle on the last two sets of downs on the second-to-last drive fooled no one. Those were the kind of wasted downs that characterized too much of this season. As with ND, Devin performed magnificently in spite of the offensive game plan in many cases. His improvisation led directly to at least three of our TDs. Great job by our offense today. Fire Borges.

Was I the only one who REALLY felt like he was getting a good look at what Green shall be capable of for the FIRST time this game?

I like what I see out of Green.  He'll be OUR Carlos Hyde soon.

I somewhat disagree. Green had two nice runs for first downs where he ran over some guys for positive yards after building a head of steam, but he still seems too hesitant near the LOS and thus loses momentum and can be tackled. Smith looked more like Hyde to me, since he has great balance, he broke quite a few tackles and hit the hole with more authority. I bet he'll almost always gain at least two yards next year.

Agree about Smith looking good. And Green's hesitation. But on those plays when he didn't hesitate, he put a couple nice shots into the tackling LBs. Assuming with experience, he loses the hesitation, as he uses the weight room more, I'll wager he will be a punishing beast before long. Smith and Green will be a refreshing one-two punch.

Borges has to go, preferably by Monday.    Use the bowl practices to do some different things while trying to hire a top flight OC, who likely doesn't join until spring practice.

That offensive squad does some very nice things when its run right.

Borges clearly sacrificed some prospect of success this season by sticking with pocket passing/power running for the sake of youth development in future seasons despite this not playing to the veteran players' strengths. Good call? Bad call? Who cares. It's a sunk cost: the season is over. The team FINALLY has one full year under its belt playing pocket pass/power run and none of this hybrid nonsense, that was necessary because of Denard's unique skill set last season. We took our lumps, now let's enjoy the fruits of that by fielding a team with a consistent OC that has finally played a full year under a new offensive philosophy. If we panic and bail on Borges, we start transitioning AGAIN. It'll be much, much better next year.

Proud of the players . Fuck the no moral victories bullshit. I'm sure the kids are upset and heartbroken they didn't win but don't think for a minute that the close loss isn't better than a blow out. A loss isn't tragic at this point. Sorry we are still in transition as a program. That's not an excuse it's a fact. Every reasonable fan knew it would be a tough year. I'm definitely disappointed in the way we lost some of the games but it's about the loss record I thought it would be before the season . I'm not a Borges fan but Hopefully Hoke learns from his mistakes and I'm probably one of the only fans that thinks Gardner is not at fault this year .

I was on board the "Fire Borges" train, but I have abandoned ship. His words that this offense can score when they show up, or something like that, seem prophetic and true. I don't think this offensive outburst was some coaching miracle that hasn't happened all year. I think the players were fired up, intense, and executed to a man yesterday.
