Seth’s Team Sheets for Today’s B10 Games: 1/31/2021

I can’t use them for Michigan right now so I’m putting out the diagrams for the day’s Big Ten games. FAQ for these graphics. Click for bigger.

Michigan State at Ohio State

1pm ET on CBS

The Spartans were moving guys in and out of the lineup long before the two-week COVID layoff. Hoggard has started the last four games, and Watts and Langford have been splitting time at the two. Watts started the 67-37 loss to Rutgers.

Ohio State has been scoring at will despite being plagued by injuries at point guard. PG CJ Walker is probably not fully recovered from his hand injury and EXTREME Just-a-Shooter Justin Ahrens has been starting in his place. OSU will put Liddell at center and play five-out rather than go to the deep bench of Key and Towns.

Rutgers at Northwestern

7:30pm ET on BTN

Rutgers has been starting Geo Baker and Caleb McConnell in the backcourt. McConnell was originally going to take a medical redshirt this season for a back injury. Instead he returned after the new year, and finally looked all the way back starting for the first time this year on 1/24 versus Indiana. Jacob Young, the former disaster factory, is now coming off the bench but is more or less a sixth starter. Montez Mathis’s role has diminished of late.

Northwestern’s on a seven-game losing streak, falling a long way since they were ranked #19 going into the Michigan game. Their offensive efficiency has plummeted since teams have been copying Michigan’s plan to shift usage to Robbie Beran and Chase Audige.
