Semi-OT: Matt Gutierrez potential Bears backup
Apparently since Caleb Hanie got injured in the first preseason game and Dan LeFevour threw five picks in the same game, the Bears are flying in Gutz as a potential backup. This is after a bunch of old-timers turned them down (including our own Todd Collins).
Nothing too exciting, but interesting to see that the Michigan-starting-QB-who-almost-was is still hanging around in the NFL. Good for him. I've never seen him play in the preseason before, but I'll definitely be watching him if he ends up signing.
(Figured it was OT for being pro sports and since the school he actually played at was Idaho State, yet on-topic for the Michigan connection. So... semi-OT.)

This also reminds me of Underwood. What's he up to now?

I don't think Underwood was to Mike Hart as Gutierrez was to Henne. I think the QB competition (prior to Gut's injury) was much closer than the RB competition proved to be, after a conservative fellow like Lloyd did the right thing and went with his best guy (Mike H.). (Aside: Why couldn't he ever bring himself to bench Pat Massey?)

had the goods. Wishing him luck. . .

Are really freaking out in Chicago about the backup QB spot. For whatever reason, no one seems concerned about Cutler, which confuses/amuzes me.

LeFevour did not throw any picks in the game. Thanks for the insight tho!
However; he did throw six the other day in practice.
