Semi-OT: Epke Udoh Has One Hand

Submitted by el segundo on

Here is an interesting and careful analysis of Epke Udoh's game, which indicates that he's really a one-handed player.

The record of one-handed guys in the NBA has been very unhappy.  Does anyone remember Walter Berry?

The author of the analysis seems to think that Udoh can be successful in the NBA despite his one-handedness.  But I wonder.  If he's only effective from the left block, he's just not going to get the ball there.  He's going to have to prove that he can score effectively from somewhere else.  If he can't, he's going to be limited to a career as a shot blocking defensive specialist.  Not bad, but not worthy of the top half of the first round.

I can't help but wonder if Udoh would be a better-rounded player if he'd had a couple of years with Beilein, who emphasizes fundamentals.

St. Johns's correct? And a left hander to boot. Joey D. should draft Greg Monroe from Georgetown or Ed Davis from NC. I would draft Monroe.

It gets late early out there.

Better cut that pizza into 6 pieces. I don't think I can eat 8.

When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
