Saturday Night Chillaxin Thread
It's a beautiful summer evening here in West Michigan. Relaxing in the three seasons porch drinking a few pours of my favorite bourbon. Just wondering what everyone is doing this evening. Hope all is well with my fellow MGobloggers ?.
Cheers and have a great weekend ?
GO BLUE!!!!
I get to work a 12 hour shift tonight so one of y'all should get blacked out drunk for me
I'm sure someone here can fulfill your request. I'm working on my third pour at the moment. Work safely and take care Darker Blue.
Listening to live music in a barn between Dexter and Chelsea with 30 or so people. Real chill.
Living the good life ?
Commie High - Dude get off the web!
There is a reason I wasn’t an English Major, should have written “about to listen to live music.”
Rancho Tranquilico?? Looked interesting.
Yes. Barry’s barn is great.
Watching Hallmark Channel Christmas in July
Does it have to be blinks?
I.. am.. OK
Out with my wife for our 29th anniversary. Having some local beers and a nice meal, topped off with wild blueberry bread pudding.
Happy anniversary MGoGrendel. Wishing you 29 more blessed years ?
Happy anniversary
If " blueberry bread pudding" is a euphemism for sex, kudos to you for it still being wild after all these years.
Speaking as someone married for 25 years, the foam on the top of his beer is as close to head as he's going to get.
Green chile cheeseburgers on the grill with some Old Bay fries. Sip O’ Sunshine in the glass. 2 weeks to vacation and just working a ton to get ready for that so tonight is much needed.
Yesterday was my birthday, so that has lasted a bit into today as the balance of my gifts showed up this afternoon, not the least of which was a second Nintendo Switch to replace the one which my kids have essentially absconded with (i.e., that is to say, it is hardly ever available to me). If nothing else, this one will be hooked into the larger TV in the family room, so their loss in that respect.
I will be by myself tomorrow and Monday as my wife and kids go with my in-laws on a short vacation, leaving me to take care of the mammals and reptiles in our menagerie here. I intend to refine some recipes during that time, which is completely adult and boring of me but as I am deep into my forties now, I've become used to being these things.
Happy belated birthday and many more healthy years to you!!!!
Thanks for all you do here on the blog.
Had many Switchbacks last night (and a splash of mushrooms). Watching the Copa and enjoying some English Breakfast tea and herb.
I enjoyed mushrooms a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed some spending time with my good friend lsd the other night.
I definitely enjoy the occasional cosmic reset
Agreed. Though I will microdose 'shrooms as required by life.
I ate 5gshrooms on Fri and 1.5 tabs of acid Saturday a few weeks ago
Wild ride
I’m also watching the Copa. I can’t believe that guy stayed in the game. At first I thought it was an Achilles, but then it looked like a dislocated ankle that they popped back into place.
These Copa games are soccer as bloodsport. Argentina is fouling like crazy.
I have my boys this weekend! Grilling steaks and dinner on the porch. Nice rain storm cut the humidity in east TN tonight. If I could get my daughter to come up from Chattanooga it would be perfect, but I will take what I can get. Enjoy the evening everyone!
I played disc golf all day and have settled into my favorite chair with chinese take out.
So what's the favorite bourbon? Trying to decide which one to drink myself... might just go with a rye old fashioned in the end though.
Favorite???? That's like asking which child is your favorite.....
Pour 1: Knob Creek Single Barrel Select
Pour 2: Buffalo Trace store pick
Pour 3: Eagle Rare
Pour 4: Traverse City Barrel Proof Bourbon
Pour 5: Wild Turkey Rare Breed
Love em all ?.
What's your favorite?
Elmer T Lee but I've never found a bottle of it for myself. I've got a kitchen counter full of really good bourbon and more hidden in the basement that the wife doesn't know about.
Cool, never had the chance to enjoy a pour of Elmer T Lee. Best bourbon I have drank is a gifted pour of 2018 George T Stagg from a fellow MGoblogger. Amazing juice ?.
I have 22 bottles open with another 20 in reserve.
Please recommend anything you really like. Thanks ?
Don't really have any hidden gems that I can think of I like the same stuff most people seem to like which is why it's all ridiculously hard to find. Open bottles currently they're mostly all good to really good:
Eagle Rare Store Pick
Old Weller Antique Store Pick
E.H.Taylor Store Pick
Weller Full Proof Store Pick
McKenna 10
Blanton's
E.H. Taylor Rye
Willett Family Estate 6 Year Bourbon
Willett Family Estate 7 Year Bourbon
Willett Family Estate 4 Year Rye (good for Old Fashioned's not really my favorite otherwise)
Balcones True Blue Store Pick
and two that I'm not a huge fan of Dickel BiB and Knob Creek Double Oaked Rye
Nice selection ?. Can't get Willett in Michigan and pretty much anything from Buffalo Trace is unavailable. McKenna 10 shows up every once in a while. I have been to Balcones in Waco a couple times. Some of their juice is pretty good.
Chicken Cock and Woodford Reserve
At a wedding in Petoskey! Awesome up here!
Just dropped off the kid for a week with the SIL, stopped in Chicago at Half Acre to grab some IPAs and now home to finish talkin myself into movin to the D.C. area for the last fifteen years of my career. Need to decide by Monday, which is my birthday. Need to find some E.H. for Monday night.
Well, ya can tell I'm having a WILD night: I'm lookin' a MGoBlog.
The wife cancelled our cable last week. You know just in time for me to miss the cup finals, NBA finals, copa final, and euros final. Currently drinking, wondering why the kids are still awake, and watching a classic MLS game on Pluto tv. What has my life become?
Damn bro … I feel like I should give you my YouTube TV password. You’re living like the late 80s
Margaritas and cilantro jalapeño marinated steak fajitas. We’ve gone keto and did it without tortillas and it actually turned out extremely well. Helps when you’ve got a side of queso to go with it.
Watching mindless junk tonight. The wife has never watched the newest Independence Day so we’re watching that tonight (sucked compared to the first one), the Euro final tomorrow, and then if we’re up to it, the new Chris Pratt Amazon movie tomorrow night.
All that sounds great except for your plan to watch The Tomorrow War. That movie is sooo fucking terrible. Really really bad.
Thanks for the heads up. I might try to push us back to watching Fargo instead. We are on season three and love it.
I had no dog in the Copa fight but I think soccer fans everywhere can be glad that Messi won just so we won’t hear the phrase “but he never won a major title” over and over for the next 40 years.
Watching 'This is 40' which is so far in my rearview mirror that it seems particularly hilarious tonight. I also made Korean double cheeseburgers -- soy/scallion/garlic/sesame marinade on the meat, a little sesame mayo, and pickled cucumbers on top.
I thought 30 was the worse age to pass. Just leaving your young 20s was very traumatic. The rest of the age barriers were not as traumatic, 40, 50 and now coming up to 60. Felt about the same!
Got the house ready for my sister's return tomorrow to the US of A after her latest multi-year assignment overseas (she's a diplomat at State Dept.) Will be good to see her and her family for a few days before they head down to DC. Watched the Copa final and finishing Dark Matter with a cold one.
Dark Matter was a fun series. Woulda liked to see it get another season or two but at least it got the extra seasons Firefly never got.
Played golf with my dad and son today. Son is working for Pfizer but just got a much better job offer making great money for the next year before he heads off for his PhD (acorn doesn’t fall far I guess)
My dad is 72 years old and shot 84. With clubs from 1992. Im taking him to get fitted for clubs, then buying him custom clubs tomorrow for his BDay. I wanna see him shoot his age.
Mom grilled NY strip …. I’ve been drinking beers (too many to name) and Knob creek. Great day today.
I've gotten into drinking Islay single malt scotch. The higher end 15 years and up are great but expensive,. like Caol Lla 18yr. I found on sale for $180.00.
