Saturday evening drinking thread

Submitted by sadeto on
We haven't had a drinking thread in a while, maybe that's a good thing. But the talk of fonts and jerseys has me wishing I had a great CFB game, preferably a Michigan game, on the TV while I kill this growler of Other Half Amarillo IPA and relax on this rainy NY summer evening. Streaming the Grand Budapest Hotel for my better half. What are you drinking?

Drinking threads are always a good idea. Fat Head Brewery Head Hunter IPA over here. Wish Hop JuJu was in season. I can't wait for this season, come on!

porterhouse steaks on the grill as soon as i give haircuts to the 3 middle sons.

i note that verlander is almost through 7 innings, no runs, 2 hits, 9 strikeouts and only 88 pitches.  if that holds up, that is an excellent outing.   unfortunately cleveland is winning again.

given our 5 boys haircuts, making exception for my mgowife who will do so once in a while if i'm busy.   the youngest boys like them at a 2-3 in the winter, a 1 in the summer and during football season.  oldest son is more like a 3-4 all year.

I've been cutting MGoHusband's hair since we first got married 8 years ago. Now I cut our son's hair too. The first time I cut my husband's hair after we got married I was terrified. Everything was going great until I went to trim the hair around his ears with the ear guard.  I didn't realize I needed to lift the top half/unguarded part away from his hair and he ended up with a nice half circle around his ear cut almost down to the skin. It ended up having to be buzzed completely.  I can't believe he let me cut his hair again after that!  Thankfully I'm much more proficient these days.

use the beard trimmer part, it works well.  when the boys were younger it stopped most of the super-giggling they'd start when i'd trim the neck with scissors.  i did zip the oldest son's top-of-the-ear area once a couple of years ago a bit too much.  he still reminds me of it, even tonight as i ended up cutting his hair too.  4 down, 1 to go.

Wife cuts my hair and does fine except the one time when she forgot to put the #3 blade on. Giant buzz to skin about three inches from my forehead upwards.

Me: oh my god
Mrs: what? Ohhhh.

/cut is done

Mrs: you can hardly tell

//next night we have friends over for a BBQ (30 seconds after they walked in)

Friend: Jesus what happened to your head?

Walk in like you own the place. Wolves come in packs. Beer comes in 6 pack, 12 pack, or case. On west coast most refer to a 12 pack as a half rack and a case as a full rack. I still don't know why. Enjoy that ale, friend.

Looking back, when we started drinking sometime in high school, Mikes Hard Lemonade had just come out and that was what we drank. Not sure I could get one of those down now if I tried.

Sitting here making hot dogs, drinking a vodka-Sprite Zero-Cran cocktail and thinking about what ESPN's #1 college football game of 2015 will be.  Odds on Michigan-MSU?  I put it at -500.

No one is drinking whiskey?  I've started a bottle of The Emerald 1865 and believe I'll be finishing it sometime soon.  Has anyone ever heard of Pappy Van Winkle?  I've just recently learned of it from the television show I have and want to find a bottle.
