Sam Montgomery

Submitted by dynasticwarrior on
Does anybody know when RR's in-home visit with Sam Montgomery is/was? If it has already happened, does anybody know how it went? Also, more generally, how many in-home visits are allowed for one recruit?

according to Sam Webb of Scout (mentioned on radio show) 4 UM coaches visited Sam last night. Sam and his mom are now headed to LSU for the weekend.

Hope Montgomery's mom had plenty of meat loaf and sweet tea on hand. I bet they all said it was the best meat loaf they've every tasted.

Do you think Sam Montgomery has the potential to stand up and play outside linebacker (this would seem especially helpful if we switch to some form of 3 down linemen)

although his fake 40 time isn't bad... I'd thought the same thing about Roh (15 lbs lighter) if it turns out to be a need and it gets him early playing time; especially since everyone raved about his initial burst speed, yet his 40 time isn't so hot

Sam can stand up and play outside LB wherever he goes. He would be best as a DE in a 4-3. He can also be a blitzing OLB in a 3-4/3-3-5. His versatility is something that Greg Robinson is looking for. Hopefully he hates Baton Rouge this weekend

Montgomery is NOT an outside linebacker in a 3-3-5. He's a rush guy through and through. He might be able to play some OLB in a 3-4 if he dropped off in coverage very rarely, but he's most likely a 4-3 defensive end.

First of all, you get my point! What about C.Roh? I see no problem with him dropping back off the line, he's only about 215 he'll put on some weight no doubt but he has quick feet and has good mechanics for a youngster. Not saying that we would need a DE to drop back in coverage but I think he could do fairly well in the flats.

I do get your point. Regardless, when you don't know a recruit's first name, suggest that Sam Montgomery could be an OLB in the 3-3-5, and then suggest that an offensive tackle prospect could cover the flats, forgive me if I don't take your suggestions seriously. On top of that, Roh is listed at 230, not 215 (although you never know how accurate those measurements are). I think Roh might do okay if he had to drop back on occasion. He seems to be the most athletic of the three. Still, I don't expect a lot of 3-4 looks or zone blitz schemes from Greg Robinson.

I am being kind of an asshole this morning. I apologize. Just had some shitty things happening to me and my family this week. I'll try to knock it off. Go blue.

well Craig and Greg are a common mistake my bad. I didn't suggest that Sam Montgomery be a OLB in the 3-3-5. Lolota is being brought in as a DE and yes he is a bit raw but has some up side to him. Roh would be the better fit to drop out, but like you said with G.Robinson as DC I don't expect DE's to drop out.
