RR says one BT school neg recruits

Submitted by ish on
according to dave birkett, RR said "There's only one school in our league we thought was negative recruiting quite a bit." my money is on osu or msu.

Austin White? Brothers go/went to MSU, they think he's a lock, but he starts showing interest in UM and Dantonio opens his mouth about this and that which turns White off. I think Michigan also went head-to-head with MSU for Rodgers, Black, and possibly some others. I'd put money on MSU with d-bag Hope a close second.

Probably MSU, since it makes the most sense in terms of common recruits. PSU and UM probably recruited a couple of similar players, but the big fish tend to stay away from each other except for big-time recruits (at which point everyone is negging the other guy a bit). MSU, though, would undoubtedly be making a run at most of UM's in-state recruits, so the pressure to knock down UM is far greater.

That staff has been openly negative since RR came in late and went after some of there verbals. Then went after some again his second class. We need to be able to say scoreboard again...

As much as we hate OSU, I can't remember the sweater vest every saying anything that was not above board. In victory and defeat, he is always a gentleman, and he takes his share of shit from the not so fine citizens of the state whose name I refuse to speak. Ditto for Joe Pa...he's a legend and deservedly so. MSU or Purdue? Not a stretch for either school to be negative. Remember that little Purdue thing at mid-field? Dantonio, the warden, ha. Nothing would surprise me. Not a bad day, not bad at all.

Circumstantial evidence suggests Purdue, but it sure seems like it'd be in Dantonio's character to do it. Did we go head-to-head against Purdue for anyone this year? If not, I'm looking up the road.

While I don't think it's Bielema, I'm surprised no one has blamed the meathead. I don't think it's PSU, OSU, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Northwestern. I'm inclined to not believe that Brewster would do it. That leaves Purdue with a new coach who was spurned by Michigan or the team that feels it must prove it's better than Michigan in everything. I think Dantonio is better than that despite his second chance giving, and we've already seen what Hope does in post game. Granted, it could be individual position coaches/coordinators who are doing the negative recruiting, so it could be anyone's guess.

It's got to be State. While I could definitely see it being Hope and his hatred for us I don't think that we really recruit against them that much. Plus Dantonio definitely hates us more.

I don't think Dantonio could avoid saying nasty things about Michigan if he tried. I think he has anti-Michigan Tourette's or something.

But Brian pointed out on the radio this morning, we really didn't go head to head with them for any recruits this year. And Rich eliminated OSU. So he thought MSU (seems easy enough) and Minnesota (which a lot of people here discount). I find the PSU assistants thing intriguing too.

on Michigan's part. Roundtree certainly stepped up his game last year - due to his own story. RR was visibly upset in the post game presser - post handshake incident. It bothered him then and I think still bothers him deep down. RR is throwing down the gaunlet. It's Purdue in my opinion - even without the target crossover this recruiting year. In the end - I don't think it did any/much harm.
