Ronnie Bell: "I'm ready to go"

Submitted by PeteM on August 15th, 2022 at 9:51 PM

I have a vivid memory of Ronnie Bell's injury in the Western game, and wondering what impact it would have on the rest of our season. Not much, it turned out, but I do wonder what one more weapon might have done to influence the outcome in East Lansing.  In any case, in this piece he says that he's ready to go this fall and -- while I know we already have a stocked wide receiver corps -- I'm happy to hear it:

The three times he touched the ball in that Western game, he had the Jason Avant like one handed catch (penalty or not, that's crazy), a 76 yard touchdown catch and a 31 yard punt return to get the crowd extremely pumped...and....wait...he's hurt.  Fuck!!!

I cursed the college football GODS so hard at that moment.  It's like they wanted us to know how amazing he is before pulling out the rug from underneath us.

Welcome back, Ronnie.  You're in good company.

Not only will he be awesome but his leadership on that field will be huge. There is going to have to be voices, leaders, players, that rise up with the "I will not let this team fail" mentality.

I was very close with many on that osu nc team that beat miami including a few starters on defense that were in my wedding and while people laughed at them for even thinking they'd beat miami they all thoughts "mike doss will literally not let us lose". Aiden brought that to the team.

I think Ronnie Bell has that. It will be felt even more when he is suited up this year.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Harbaugh and Hutch both made comments before/during the season that last years team was different. They cut the bad apples, the bad attitudes, the "cancers" on the team and moved forward with the "we will not lose" attitude. I get the same vibe from this years team just by some of the comments coming out from camp.

haha yeah very close family member worked for the UM football program for years in the 80s and 90s so we are full blown UM through and through. I had a bit of grad school at UM but that's not why I'm a fan at all...it's all from family stuff.

Grew up in a high school football power city in OH and my best friend played on that osu team. Also played against a few guys in high school that were on that osu team.

For sure weird though I went a lot of weddings for guys on that osu lol.

I honestly thought we were screwed when Ronnie went down last season because all I could think was, "Who is Cade going to throw the ball to?"

This is one of the reasons I'm so excited for this upcoming season. Cade is going to have his safety valve back. As if he even needs it anymore.

Glad he's back.  Will he be the #1 receiver?  A lot of guys got some great experience last season, but the more the merrier.

As for you MSU comment, he wouldn't have made a difference.  Offense did their job. Allowing 5 TDs to Walker and getting that sack/fumble/TD overturned lost that game.

I'm nervous about him returning punta again, but he is good at it and the receiver depth chart is pretty talented, so hopefully it'll all work out for him.
