Ronaldo will play for Real Madrid at Michigan Stadium
Well, this just got very interesting.

Edit: welp
Edit #2: nevermind
I assume these European clubs play friendlies in the U.S. to help the popularity of the sport grow here, so it makes sense to have the stars play for at least a little bit.
Rooney played the first half against the LA Galaxy at the Rose Bowl last night.
... usually the stars play 60 minutes or so unless injured, and they are very careful with even the slightest injuries.
So, this should also be a signal that Ronaldo is pretty healthy, which is great for football in general.
While I am a Barcelona supporter, I want to see Ronaldo and Messi at their best. We live in a special time to have two such players competing at the same time on historically bitter rivals. Imagine Bird Vs. Magic on steroids with a historical and political backstory that involves war, secession campaigns, and general acrimony.
Both teams are going to be pretty similar this year.
Stellar strikers, attacking midfields and wingers.
Sketchy on defense, in goal (although Navas to los Blancos will be an upgrade).
Real with James and Kroos in the midfield is absolutely sick, however, especially with Ronaldo and Bale roaming off the edges.
Someone help me out - Am I getting negged because I'm wrong? Is there a source saying he will play? Because the article's title says he will play in Michigan Stadium but the article very obviously avoids specifically saying that he will play. In fact, the article says that he's coming off an injury but did get put on the roster.
That's my point - we don't know if he'll play (I think! Again, anyone have a source that says otherwise?).
pretty strong team on the pitch last night, interested to see what they do in AA. Real might start some stars but I would Ronald doesn't play more than a half.
... predates the link from Mlive, so maybe Mlive is going off new info. Not sure either way, but worth noting.
That link is from 2 days ago. All of the local media outlets are reporting that he IS coming as of today, and I haven't seen a source refute those claims since they've been made.
... i've noticed an interesting phenomenon during the world cup and since. There are a group of individuals on this blog who go out of their way to neg any soccer related threads and any comment in those soccer-related threads. This passive-aggressive signal of disapproval is really bizarre to me. It does not cause change, offers little to improve the blog as a whole, and has no real negative impact on those individuals who post about soccer.
The only value, I gather, is the moment of satisfaction one would get by voicing anonymous distaste of topics others (including the majority of the world) enjoy. I find this form of self-gratification to be curious from a psychological perspective. I do not understand such spiteful and petty predilections.
It's the internet equivalent of egging a house, keying a car, or soaping windows. It's petty, gutless, and juvenile, but that's how those with middle-school levels of maturity roll.
I don't think the thread needs to be deleted, just fix the title to say he was put on the roster, which we know is true.
how about editing the title into something better than a plea to delete. This is a story worth following, at least until the truth of the story emerges.

Haha, "reporting" in the Internet age: Pick the outlet that went the furthest in intimating he would actually play* and run with it. If he doesn't play, it's MLive's fault because they are the ones who reported that he'd play, even though the article say NOWHERE that he will play, just that he is on the roster.
*It's funny reading all the other article headlines that skirt around explicitly saying he'll play. MLive just has the lowest standard of proof, apparently.
