Having Rod back there at safety is very comforting.
If Rod Moore is going to change anything, he should get a more exciting name. Like Payne Moore, Kill Moore, Hurt Moore, or Smash Moore. Payne Moore would be right up there with the great UM names, like Irons, Sword, Steele, Carr, Death.
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN???
I'M PANICKED!!!!!
It means we are going 9-3. We are going to lose to MSU, PSU, and OSU. All of you will be sad.
I understand this is a joke but even a joke doesn't seriously think we're going to lose to MSU next year
It means there are Moore single-digit jerseys.
Now JJ and Rod can share jerseys instead of having to wash two of them after every game.
Reminded me of one of my all-time favorite Wolverines, Mr Dennis Franklin.
Compliled a record of 30-2-1 but never played in a bowl game. Which also reminds me fuck you Michigan State for voting against us in 73 because Dennis got hurt in the OSU game and fuck you corrupt officials who ruled Lantry's game winning kick at OSU in 74 no good.
On what grounds was the kick ruled no good?
On the grounds he kicked it "too high". You kids think 2006 was the first time B1G officials stole an OSU win from Michigan? Watch this video (it starts as Michigan is driving down the field in the final minutes of the game) and then watch the kick. The color commentator, belive it or not, was Joe Paterno and he couldnt believe it was called no good.
I was 9 years old when I watched this game. I jumped up into my father's arms as we saw the ball sail through/over the uprights. Then we sat stunned when the field goal was ruled no good. Although we couldn't understand it, we assumed the officials made a fair/accurate call.
A couple of years ago I read a story about this -- perhaps on this blog -- from a fan who sat behind the uprights and saw that the field goal was clearly good. I just watched the replay for the first time. Watching at regular speed with the shadows it is very hard to tell if the ball is between the uprights when it crosses the uprights. I figured that someone would have to Zapruder the tape to get a better view, but then I saw the slow motion replay. It sure looked like the ball was between the uprights and ended up left only after it passed over them.
I had heard this story and figured it was close - bupkis, that thing is right down the middle. Man, that has to actually be the worst call I've ever seen.
I was 9 years old as well. First Michigan game I remember. I’ve hated OSU ever since.
Thanks to the BIG athletic directors, corrupt and/or gutless officials down in Columbus, and especially to the criminally stupid Big Ten Rose-Bowl-only policy on bowl games back then.
1970: 9-1; no bowl game
1971:11-0; Rose Bowl
1972: 10-1; no bowl game
1973: 10-0-1; no bowl game
1974: 10-1; no bowl game
In five seasons, Michigan went a combined 50-3-1 and played in one fucking bowl game. To all those who sneer at playing in "meaningless" bowl games, you don't know how goddamn fortunate you are.
My gawd those early Bo teams were glorious. Holy shit.
The rest of the conference pretty much sucked besides OSU, but you don't accomplish those season records without playing damn good fundamental football.
It was Bo's misfortune that our bowl arrangement was with the PAC-10, which had teams that could throw the ball as well as run it and was vastly underrated in terms of physical talent.
If we'd been playing in the Sugar or Cotton or Orange Bowls against the BIg 8 or SEC or SWC teams that were all running the option like we were, Bo wouldn't have had to wait until 1980 for his first bowl win.
FUCK!
I was a big, big Rod Moore fan, but he just added so much more work for me to figure out if it's him or Sainristil on next year's tape. Do these guys have any idea how valuable every pixel can be for telling players apart?
If you're looking at the all-11 and the player is a single pixel, it's Sainristil.
/ if you ever meet him, please don't tell him I said that
Get Harbaugh to change the font, I have a hard time with many of the numbers.
Probably one of the more underrated players thus far in Harbaugh's tenure. The kid is a stud and one hell of a find by the staff.
Wasn't it Shoop who pushed for him ? At the time he didn't seem like the typical safety recruit we get.
I love how back in 2020 he told all his Ohio friends that Ohio State would not beat Michigan while he was playing here. They all laughed at him and when he recently saw them after the 2022 game they were like, damn you weren't lying, huh?
What's great is he has a good shot to go undefeated vs them in three, or, four years.
ANN ARBOR (AP)
Michigan safety Rod Moore is changing his number from 19 to 9, a team spokesperson confirmed. Sources close to the program report that fellow students on campus had been greeting Moore with "Hey Nineteen", referencing both his former jersey number and the eponymous Steely Dan song. Out of curiosity, Moore cued up the 70's band on his Spotify account during a recent workout and found that the band's complex instrumental arrangements and darkly sarcastic lyrics were detrimental to his shuttle time, which prompted his request for a number change. "I've got no problem with smooth California-style blue-eyed soul," Moore remarked. "But these pretentious dorks couldn't carry Michael MacDonald's jockstrap on their best day. People keep forgetting that dude was just takin' it to the streets."
Rumor has it then when asked about Moore, the number 19 responded, "Keep forgetting we're not in love anymore."
Ever since 19 appeared on Sesame Street there’s been utter failure to recognize the fifteen minutes of fame are done. Moore dodged a bullet.
I wish players would keep their same number during their college career.
Listened to an interview of Rod and he said after he committed the team in Columbus wanted him to come to camp and they would offer. He told them dueces I’m bound for AA or something to that effect.Three star mafia in the Big House.
19 was always a bit of an odd number for a DB, I know some people like that but I think 9 is an improvement.
Mike McCray’s number with all the athleticism he never had
I don't like it. He's 10 units less than he was before. I would prefer he change his number to 29, so he can be 10 units more. Or to 69, nice. Science.
You're thinking about this the wrong way. Taking the 1 off both the front and back of his jersey makes his uniform lighter so he'll be able to run faster.
It's just science.
Second great Michigan player to change away from number 19 in my lifetime rather than making the number synonymous with them. No one must like number 19
