Risk Post Mortem - BPONE

Submitted by Michigan CFB R… on May 12th, 2020 at 7:18 AM

We now can say that we know how Brian feels every Monday after Thanksgiving. There will be no UFR.

Michigan Expected territories: 23.73

Michigan Actual Territories: 18

OSU Expected Territories: 18.93

OSU Actual Territories: 23

We wanted to thank everyone for playing this round. We had 1697 players last night - pretty impressive. Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word. Thanks to Seth for routinely squirreling us into the front page. Thanks to our analyst guys for helping us with player distributions. Thanks to East Coast for writing up the beautiful recaps everyday. Last, but not least, thanks to every single one of you who played. We do truly appreciate it. Sorry this isn’t a celebration.

Maybe next year

I really like your comment and laughed and then it occurred to me that wouldn't it be better if I had no idea what you were talking about.  I suppose that I should be upset for a long time that there was no video review of a key roll near the end of the game.

Regardless how the game shook out, I think this game needs some modification. There should a team that wins global (or US) domination after 50 days. The way this game is structured is that it would never end.

Nah, let's call it like it is: this shithead from Sydney is either a whiny bitch or an attention-whoring troll.

He can choose to not click on a thread which doesn't interest him but he does it anyway to mock people or talk shit.

If this douchebag is anything IRL like his internet persona, then I hope he gets run over by a bus and the driver goes over his body a few times. The world will be a better place in his absence.

My favorite story about this joker is that he once mocked Sidney Crosby for being whiny by calling him "Sindey Crosby". The obvious irony is that his user name is UofM Fan from Sydney, and he is the biggest whiner on this board. I couldn't help myself and called him UofM Fan from Syndey, and our relationship devolved from there.

so i am correct then, even if its been a year or two since you did those last.

when do you start your countdown this year, or is it on hold until they figure out if football will even exist this year.

FWIW, the gov of arizona has given the green light for all pro sports to start in  his state, without fans.  progress.

I am forgettable because I'm not an annoying, miserable person like some users. However, just because you don't remember the exchange doesn't mean that it did not happen. Are you suggesting that you have never referred to Sidney Crosby as Sindey Crosby on this board?

GT and Wisconsin weirdly decided to purposely lose the game and let OSU win. Generals, ask their leaders how they feel about their choices now that the game is over.

Texas should have had a better showing. It’s better than shitty aTm. Also hurt that Florida didn’t show up this year, since they turned out to be the best allies in the 1st game.

No one had more than 3 mercenaries except for OSU which had 16 and GT which had 49. I find that a little suspicious.

Now that the game is over can the plebs get a breakdown of the strategy on here? I mean it seems pretty obvious that you want the corners of the map but was there anything else that was going on behind the scenes?

Without reading that post I can say this with certainty: we spread ourselves far too thin and made it easy for our enemies to slowly shrink our borders.  This game is wildly unpredictable (probably too unpredictable) with the RNG and the fact that we were so spread out made us easy targets.  Not only did we share borders with every one of our enemies for the last 30 or so turns, but as you said in a comment down below, we were outnumbered.

Look at the territories our enemies held.  They had solid foundations that they slowly built upon throughout the game, never deviating too far from one place.  OSU had the northeast and some of the midwest.  A&M controlled Texas and some of the southwest for most of the game.  GT was always in control of Florida and slowly took over the southeast.  Wisconsin took control of the midwest early and didn't relinquish it until very late.  There is something to be said for how spread out we were, always having to defend ourselves instead of consolidating and focusing on smaller areas.  I understand growing our position in the west but trying to expand into Texas may have been a fools errand.  Holding the northwest and slowly choking OSU out of the east would have been much easier.

Also depending on allies like Nebraska to hold off OSU in the northwest was probably the straw that broke the camels back.  Once they got through to the west we were surrounded.  Made it that much harder to fight back.

I said it in the other thread, but bears repeating: This is the most Michigan outcome that could've happened.

What are the odds that they magically get one of their best rolls, and UM magically gets one of their worst?

Because WI is fucking disgusting. Bastards intentionally injured Grant Newsome, which I believe cost us a playoff birth and victory over OSU; if Newsome never gets hurt, Speight never gets injured, we beat Iowa and OSU, win the B1G, then make the playoffs. Wisconsin can eat my shit.
