Risk Day 26 - We're About To Get A Major Boost In Power (It's All About Consistency!)
The more "stars" you have in this game, the more power you have, and you basically double in power with every additional star. Why am I talking about this today? Because Michigan is about to get a major boost in star power tonight. Anybody who played at least 25 turns of Risk last year and has played every turn this year became a 4-star last night, which makes them worth 12 power...double the power of a 3-star. It. Is. All. About. Consistency.
So what does that mean for those of you who just joined recently? A lot actually. While you probably won't get up to 4-star status this round, 2-stars and even 3-stars are very achievable, and those extra stars give our team a significant boost. More significantly, we're in position to get a boost that Ohio State and TAM simply won't be able to match....at least in the near term. And that's because neither the Aggys nor the Buckeyes played much last year, while we not only played, but actually came in 2nd overall (our ally Florida barely beat us out).
To maintain that advantage, though, we need you guys to keep playing and recruiting, and to do so consistently (are you noticing a theme? If you aren't, then you're either a troll or glancing over the shoulder of somebody reading this post. HI THERE!). I missed the Sunday before last, and it dropped my star rating like a rock. The nice thing is that it doesn't take long to get back to a reasonable level - I'm at 11 day streak now and that's valued at 4 stars. The big problem I'm having so far is finding a good way to get orders on mobile, it's not necessarily a friendly game for that. I need my laptop to do it.

Similar thing happened to me. But with a streak of 5 I am back to 3-star. In 5 more days (as long as I don't forget again) I will be 4-star.

Quick question about the cumulative star rating - I have 4 in turns & streak, 3 in round turns, 2 in mvp and 1 in awards. How does it calculate my overall star rating (3 right now)? Are we about at the point where we start spamming our reddit names and posts to start giving/getting some awards to get that star rating up? I feel like I'm deep enough in now where I can feel less terrible about investing a couple bucks to give awards and get some star power.

It works differently than last year. Getting points on posts doesn't mean anything this time through, and there's no way easy to way to get an award (as far as I know).
And star rating is based on your median total. So you need to get up to a 4 star in round turns to be a 4 star overall.

I bumped up to a two star on day 12 when I got an MVP. Which, btw, I don't know what that means? How does one become an MVP?

It means you were blessed by RNJesus. The random roll that happens every night based upon the probability in the "How to play" link will land on someone. You were that lucky someone. There's no skill to it, but the higher star rating you are the more "spots" you have for the RNG to land on, kind of like moving up from a single number bet on roulette, to a third, to a color, etc. The likelihood of you getting blessed increases the higher your star rating.

Already burned any actual gambling luck I had when I was trying to burn through the last $1.40 on a ticket one time on a video slot machine (who wants to cash out $1.40).
Hit stacked wilds, massive payout. Bought steaks for the guys I was with for dinner.
I've done 80 turns over the 2 games and still have 0 MVPs.
I'm trying not to take it personal, but it's difficult.
Why do you post? I don't understand what trolling your own board gets you. It wasn't funny the first time. It still isn't. It's pretty dickish, actually, considering every time you do it you it everybody negs you.

Man that board is beautiful. Taking the entire state of Washington is big for the eventual push through Alaska and Maine. OSU will be pushing hard to take that state back tonight from both sides. Interesting they were able to take... Boise State? I think that territory is Boise State. Not sure. lol
Sucks that Stanford is still around though. In fact they didn't just manage to stick around but increased from 1 to 3 territories! Ugh they're annoying.

They are the luckiest team. Every time I check they win territories with under 20% odds. Last night they won one with an 8% chance against our 92% and again with a 15% chance against Nebraska. Their 3rd territory they legit won.
Where do you see these odds? I'm just curious.

This. I just convinced my friend who is a Texas fan to start playing for CHAOS and to attack OSU. Every little bit helps, my friend.
Agreed. Also, you have the option to play as the team that controls your territory. So, if Michigan were to take the Oklahoma territory, then you would be able to play as Michigan. Until then, work some Chaos magic against our enemies. :)
9 more days until I become a 4 star. 14 more days before my twin becomes a 3 star.
Would be nice if Wisconsin could take Wyoming from Nebraska (who Neb allies with??) then we could double team Boise State if necessary and get osu out of there and have help finishing off Stanford. They'd control the north, we'd have the west and could push down and across from there. Definitely need to get UNLV from Stanford. We'd have the entire state of CA protected the next round.
