Rashan Gary is fast.

The boys have run some more 40 yard dashes for Coach Tolbert. Gary clocked a 4.58. Insane speed for a 290 guy. He is simply phenomenal. Chris Evans ran a 4.62. Higdon hit 4.48 and Ty ran 4.75+. I don't have any receiver times yet but will find out and share.

Rashan is fast, smart, hard-working and a gentlemen. At the Nike kick-off last year on State St., by MDen, he was so polite to my wife, took a picture with her and was so patient! He could be president of our country and certainly a future leader in our world!

Rashan was in the locker room for half an hour holding court--pictures with A LOT of the campers before they went out on the field. MInd you Ruiz, Runyan, Bredeson, Newsome  etc. were strolling around and getting little attention at the same time. Plus he seemed a natural teaching at the camp and appeared to be having a great time. (Some of the other big guys were not so engaged).

62bc, That's in a public setting, what's he like when there are no people around watching? Well I'll tell you, he's the same no matter who he's dealing with, & I've seen that repeatedly since last summer. I hate to say this, I don't think it's allowable to say about a football player, but you could almost call him lovable if you wanted to! As far as the times go, let's be real, these are hand timed & people are talking about the hundredths when it's not even reliable down to the tenths. One thing one of his linemates mentioned as a factor, when discussing the accuracy of those times, in how he's able to run with the little speedsters is just how tall he is & how much more ground he covers with each step.

So the times posted are all consistent with the spring camp times posted by Harbaugh - except Higdon is now about a quarter second faster?  Pretty awesome to have that kind of speed backing up Chris Evans this fall.

Not fast compared to fast football players
During game : rarely runs more than 15 yds during a play

Bench press for QB may be most useless work out stat

I thought Evans was fast? That's two straight 40 yard dashes of over 4.6 for him. Maybe he's one of those dudes who gets faster in the game, bc when I watch him he looks 4.5 and under at times.

He's very slippery. Has great agility and change of direction pace. He's not a straight line runner as much as Higdon is. Higdon also isn't a "burner" (sorry OP) but he's super fast in a straight line and I don't anticipate many safeties on our schedule this year to be able to catch up to Evans or Higdon in the open field. Maybe only a few defensive backs would catch them from behind on our schedule.
